Lots of hope:

1) They are in first,
2) The division is horrible,
3) They have many players having above average years

downside, there is lots of dead weight in the starting rotation and bottom of batting order.

I'd say Detroit makes a strong run and wins the division. But if I was a Sox fan, I would watch a lot of this team.

Yes, they do have some watchable guys unlike the past couple of years.

That's cool.

But you're off for good now. No coming back in September.

Since the first 2 weeks of the season, Detroit is 10 games under .500. I see the Tigers being like the Sox last year. Having a ton of talent on paper and hanging around in the division race, but never going on a run to really compete.

Not saying the Sox are gonna cakewalk to a division title, but I think the Sox biggest competition is the Indians and themselves.

You may be right Frank, but I think Detroit will win it eventually. I can't see the Indians hanging around, they may be this year's Pirates.

The way I see it as well. Detroit is getting to the point where they have to go on a nice run just to reach first. Indians are like a slow drip that creates the grand canyon. I don't think they will either run away with it or fade.

Definitely on the bandwagon but have no world championship aspirations.

I think this Tigers team is better than last year's white sox team.

I mean they dont have Fielder hitting 200 with 5 HR's like Dunn or getting nothing from Verlander like with Peavy

I dont know if they'll come back, but their problems stem from the middle to bottom of their roster. Thats a little easier to fix, I think

But they've dug such a hole, even a crazy run will only get them in the race.

The Tigers will be poised to make a run once Garza joins their rotation.

Tigers are 5 games back.....not that big of a hole.

Even though they've been awful to this point, everyone from The SCORE's Chris Rongey on down still thinks that the Tigers, not the Indians, are ultimately going to get it together and take control of this awful AL Central.

As for whether I was on the bandwagon, I never was on it. In fact, there are issues with the starting rotation if your names aren't Chris Sale & Jake Peavy. If either pitcher goes down, these Sox are toast.

Of course you weren't. You try to be just as negative as Bernstein.

It'll be officially over soon enough. Philip Humber & Gavin Floyd have to get better at baseball and I mean now. There's also the matter of third base, too. The Scott Bakula-looking Brent Morel ain't coming back anytime soon.

It would be nice if the White Sox played meaningful baseball in September.

Exactly. I was "all out" concerning becoming emotionally invested in this team until a few weeks. I went to a game, had fun, they won and it reignited the fire and the passion lurking within SomeGuy's cold and dead heart.

Hatchetman, if you wan't out...if you won't commit...I'll get you upstairs and get you the fuck out. But remember, once you're gone you are gone for good! Banished to the Negative Zone for all eternity.

The fuck? The White Sox are in first place as it stands right now. As recent as Friday night, they had a chance to have the best record in the AL. Yes, the starting pitching needs to be better. 3rd base is not as much as a problem right now because the Sox are scoring a lot of runs.

Nobody is saying the Sox will win 95 or 100 games. We are all happy that they have played well and are very much a player in this AL Central race. Saying "it was fun while it lasted" about a first place club in June is not being realistic, its being flat out moronic.

Well, they may be below .500 at home, but they've been real good away from home to this point. Kinda cringing at the idea of seeing Adam Dunn in left field this week in St. Louis & Los Angeles, sans the DH.
