Future Hall of Famer Courtney Hawkins went 0-3 with a run scored in his first professional game.

chirp chirp in the Minors because Sale, Beckham, Reed, Jones, Morel (on DL), are all on the big league club.

I take it as a compliment. Hyping and hoping for prospects is one of the unique attributes of the warm and fuzzy fans.

No thanks. We'll just wait for Kenny to deliver more talent to the major league team from the minors. There will be plenty of time to discuss them then.

I used to subscribe to Baseball America in the 80s just to follow the prospects. Johnny Ruffin was going to be the next Dwight Gooden. As a youngster I didn't realize how unlikely it was that any of them would amount to anything. The Sox minors sucked big time back then too. Adam Peterson anyone? Tom Drees? Ravelo Manzanillo?

Kenny has also delivered plenty of major league talent to other teams; Clayton Richard, Gio Gonzalez, Daniel Hudson, Chris Young, Jon Rauch, Sergio Santos, Lucas Harrell, etc.

Whether those deals were good or bad is a different discussion. The fact remains that the Sox system had continually produced MLB players since the Kenny Williams took over.

DeAza was actually a Marlins prospect, gd. The Sox got him on waviers.

With guys like Beckham and Morel tearing it up at the ML level who needs a good farm system.

Never said any of those guys were "tearing it up." All I said was that the Sox produce MLB players pretty consistently. All of the so called experts rank the Sox system at or near the bottoms, yet it seems that every year there is a Sox guy that contributes to a big league club.

How soon we forget Brandon McCarthy. Is that Denks deal still better for the Sox?

Keon Barnum, a very large man who was drafted in the second round I believe, has hit 3 homers in his first 4 professional games. I'm thinking he may finish the year as the #1 prospect.
