Cy Chen tonite, and Hocevar who shut them down on just 3 hits back in May. Hopefully at least 2 of 3 for the Pale Hose

2 out of 3 in the favor of the White Sox would be nice, too. By the way, just in case White Sox fans have forgotten...

#15 Gordon Beckham, Atlanta, GA
#20 Kevin Youkilis, Cincinnati, OH
#49 Chris Sale, Ft. Myers, FL
#14 Paul Konerko, Providence, R.I.
#5 Orlando Hudson, Darlington, S.C.

Just making sure you're paying attention.

I'm not as afraid of the Royals as I would've been in April or May. Sox have actually proven to be a fairly good team.

That being said, the Sox don't have a chance in hell of beating SuperChen tonight, so we'll just hope to take games 2 and 3.

The Royals start the night 37-47, 9 1/2 games behind our White Sox in the A.L. Central and are 2-8 in the 10 leading into the All-Star Break. In plain English, not good.

This is quite a road trip for the Sox, 10 games starting in Kansas City and finishing next weekend in Detroit with 4 more with the Red Sox in Boston sandwiched in between. Our Sox have just 3 more home games the rest of July and will rack up lots of frequent flyer mileage. 16 of the next 19 are away from The Cell. A good start to the trip would be nice...

The Royals' lineup is in. Here's how they'll lineup vs. the White Sox' Jose Quintana:

4 Alex Gordon LF (L)
2 Alcides Escobar SS (R)
35 Eric Hosmer 1B (L)
16 Billy Butler DH (R)
11 Yuniesky Betancourt 2B (R)
8 Mike Moustakas 3B (L)
21 Jeff Francoeur RF (R)
13 Salvador Perez C (R)
6 Lorenzo Cain CF (R)

Bruce Chen does the chucking for the Royals. Awaiting the Sox lineup this eve.

I think this is the night the Sox finally break the spell that Cy Chen has over them and they knock his tired ass out of the game by the 5th inning.

Well, so far Chen has no control and gave up two bombs to Dunn and Rios in the first. Now he has back to back walks to lead off the second...

3-0 Sox so far.

Bases loaded no outs and they only get 1 run. Fuck.

That is officially Kenny's greatest trade ever. Jhan Marinez for Ozzie Guillen. Addition plus addition by subtraction.

This game was likely lost when Hudson ran for Dunn. The consequences were immediate and have simply continued. Had Dunn remained on base, he wouldn't have been sent home and more batters would have been able to come up. Also, if Dunn were still in the order, he wouldn't have been ordered to make an out on purpose against a shitter tossing lollipops up there. And now the game continues with a nine-hole batter in the three-hole.

Kansas City may save us by making their own stupid outs on purpose. At least they can do it so it advances a runner though.

Now an ill-advised intentional walk. It's dummyball everywhere!

The two intentional walks have fucked the Sox.

At least they should bring in a major league pitcher and make an effort.

why was it an ill advised intentional walk? Don't you want to set up the double play and it also avoids Hosmer hitting for Dyson?

This is fucking frustrating. The game should have been over an hour ago. Now they're probably going to lose it by four when Moustakas parks a hanger by Santiago.

Did you really think you were going to double up Dyson? It's not that easy. Also, you're deep into the bullpen and these guys don't have great command. He quickly loaded them up putting the winning run 90 feet away. My philosophy: I never make outs on purpose and I never put runners on on purpose. Except Miguel Cabrera.

True. But you are putting a runner on in a spot that does not matter. The guy in front of him is the one that matters. And don't you want Dyson hitting with the winning run on 2nd instead of Hosmer?

I don't look at it that way. Hosmer isn't Babe Ruth. You just filled another base and as you saw, the next guy was walked and pushed the lead runner to third. There are few guys I'd pitch around. Cabrera come immediately to mind. I'd never let him beat me. But that's a guy the Sox pitch to. Go figure. I don't know. I don't like intentional walks. I especially didn't like the one that wasn't officially intentional that gave them the lead in the eighth.

I hate that kinda stuff from AJ. Take your strikeout and get back to the dugout. Your pitcher got a couple pretty good strike calls in the last half inning, but doubtful they get any in the next half.

I think he's probably helping his pitcher. I don't like that stuff by most players, but there's a special relationship between catchers and plate umpires.

I don't see how having the umpire follow you half way back to the dugout is helping your pitcher, especially in an extra inning game that I am sure the ump wants to get over.
