Sox lose tonight against Zoolander, but win Sat and Sun. Sox offense needs to get its' head right and put more than one run across the friggin plate. If they end up tied with Detroit it sucks, but there's many games left before October. |

Thornton blowing the lead, Gavin on the DL and the offense pooping their pants all add up to disaster during this series. But don't they do OK against Tha' Berlander? |

It's a doozy of a pitching matchup tonight with Jake Peavy & Justin Verlander in Detroit, followed by Chris Sale & Rick Porcello tomorrow in an "MLB on FOX" game called by Thom Brennaman & Eric Karros. I'd like to see the White Sox take 2 out of 3, but if they only take 1, they leave Detroit Sunday in 1st place coming home. A 1/2 game lead is better than none... |

Hopefully Thom chokes on a dick tonight so I don't have to listen to his nonsense tomorrow. |

Look on the bright side...Joe Buck & Tim McCarver aren't working ANY of the games "MLB on FOX" has tomorrow. McCarver has something in Cooperstown, NY called the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Ford C. Fricke Award, which I still don't get for the life of me... |

This is NOT a good stat, but it's worth mentioning. The Trib's Mark Gonzales just tweeted that the White Sox are batting ONLY .205 in their last 8 games with runners in scoring position. Their 1 1/2 game lead on the Tigers going into tonight's game is their smallest since July 1st. |

I just would never pitch to Cabrera. If Fielder hits a grand slam, so be it. I got beat. But it isn't going to be by the best hitter in the game. |

Is Peavy becoming 2012 speak for Mark Buerhle? Meaning, .500 pitcher from year to year? |

Wins don't mean what they used to. Jake's pitched really good this year. Big game for Sale tomorrow. Hopefully the offense will finally wake up. |

Post subject: | Re: 7/20 - 7/22: The Eye of of Tigers |
Here's exactly why wins and losses matter. Two guys- Sale and Porcello facing off in the same game, with the same weather, the same hitter's background, the same umpire, etc. They're both pitching well, but one of them is likely to get the win and one is likely to get the loss. A game like this usually hinges on a couple pitches. Austin Jackson got the best of Sale in one of those situations. To say Sale isn't getting "run support" is to ignore what Porcello is doing. He could have made a bad pitch at some point. Maybe he will. I hope he will. But these two guys are more responsible for what's happening in this game than all the other players combined. Now, if you want to say that the Tigers have a better offense so Sale has a tougher task, well, in the big picture I'm not sure I agree, and the numbers thus far don't bear such an idea out. But even if we were to agree on that proffer, the difference between the two offenses in the space of nine innings is so minute as to be utterly insignificant. And if you think that Sale is a far superior pitcher to Porcello, then any advantage you might believe a better offense has disappears in any case. |

And now Sale still hasn't received any "run support". And Porcello's "run support" is really just the failing of Sale. |

Hang em and bang em. That was an awful pitch by Sale. Anyone would have hit that one a long way. 9 outs left for the offense. Can they do anything to make this one interesting. Anything?? |
