I still think the Sox have another hot streak in them. Go Twins for tonite!

6-4 gives them a pretty good chance, I think 7-3 wins it for sure. I think they sweep one of the Indians series, take 2 of 3 in the other, and split with the rays.

I'm not sure exactly what they'll do, but I'm sure they're not "choking" anything away. They're playing the way they have all season. They're a team that is slightly better than .500 and they're a couple games under in September after playing a bunch on the road. They may be good enough to win the division. Or not. Either way, it's been a good- not great- season. If they do make it in, maybe it can be great.

Interestingly enough, Big Sox Fan danny bernstein who usually can't tell you enough how much of a "crapshoot" the playoffs are, has suddenly adopted a brand new narrative wherein the Sox aren't going anywhere even if they do win the division. So I guess it doesn't matter anyway.

JORR has this thing about bringing Dan Bernstein into every conversation in every thread. Yes it's odd.

I've noticed that. Kind of disturbing. I wonder what the issue is there??

This is kind of funny coming from a guy who hates the White Sox but is obsessed with them. And I'm sure Kid Cairo can find at least one thread where I don't mention bernstein.

Of course I was exaggerating, but you do mention him a lot.

Only when it's pertinent to the conversation. How can a guy spout Fangraphs all day long and make statements that the playoffs are a crapshoot and then turn around and say his "favorite" team is choking (something that supposedly doesn't exist) or isn't good enough to advance in the postseason (when it is a crapshoot)?

Obsessed? I think not. I think you are the one "obsessed" with Bernstein.

You really should get some help with that.

The battle of mediocrity. DET has no excuses if they lose the division and neither do the Sox.

One team clearly will back in.

I'm sure there must be a Cubs section where you can cheer the 100 game loss season and the great draft pick.

If you cannot beat Minnesota in at least one game of a doubleheader at this point in the season then you do not deserve to win the division.

This is a Chicago Sports Fan forum the last time I checked.

Truly is a magical season for the Sox. Offense can't score and on a day they lose, they gain ground. :drunken:

Right. And you're free to be a douche in which ever section you wish. Keep going!

This thing is over. Sox should be chilling the champagne. I really do feel great about still having a one game lead after that shit weekend.

I think they sweep the Indians this week. Meanwhile I think the Royals will take care of business against the Tigers and win 2.

You can probably say that about a lot of teams that have been deemed "chokers"

If the White Sox don't win the AL Central and the Tigers get it done, make no mistake about it. The Tigers' bats will get them there. It certainly won't be Detroit's defense, which was awful in BOTH games of their doubleheader to the Twins yesterday.

Although the Tigers have the easier schedule, the Royals swept Detroit's sorry ass in KC the last time the two teams played. Those two teams play 7 of the next 10 head to head starting with a 4-game series tonight in Detroit, thanks to an April 30th rainout, and will wrap up the season at Kauffman Stadium next Monday-Wednesday. The Tigers head to Target Field next weekend to rematch the Twins, who it turns out took 2 out of 3 at Comerica Park, thanks to their DH wins yesterday to reduce the White Sox magic number to 10. This in spite of the Sox getting swept in Anaheim.

The Sox start a 7-game homestand with 3 vs. the Indians tonight-Wednesday at U.S. Cellular Field and wrap up the season with 3 more in Cleveland at (Not So) Progressive Field next week. You'd think this series vs. Cleveland would be just what the doctor ordered for the White Sox and their struggling offense with runners in scoring position. The Rays are here Thursday-Sunday, and if I remember correctly, the Sox did really good earlier this season at Tropicana Field. 3B Evan Longoria is back, but the Rays have been hard to figure in the 2nd half of the MLB season. By the time this series begins, I'm not sure what Tampa Bay will be playing for as long as teams like the Orioles, A's & Angels keep winning.

I said Detroit's pitching and defense was not good enough for them to win the division and that was dismissed for the most part. rpb specifically said I was putting too much stock into defense. Now obviously I didn't expect the Sox to play this poorly down the stretch, but the Tigers are pretty much what I said they would be all season.

I think if the Sox can sweep this Tribe and split with the Rays they will be popping the champagne next Sunday or Monday 8)

Over/under on tonight's attendance?

I think tonight's game will have a decent turnout, but tomorrow's day game will be a struggle.
