Losing 10 of their last 12. Wow. I can symphatize though, as the Cubs 2004 collapse was similar. That sucked. |

I think its more like they ran out of gas because they were playing above their head all year. The shame is that Tampa is kicking their ass all over the field, have a better record and will be sitting at home just like the Sox when the playoffs start. |

No matter what happens, this is not a "choke". A certain poster told us that a week ago. It's the result of a "bad division". |

Its a choke. I know chokes. This was one. Like Frank Costanza says, the Tigers arent winning, the Sox are losing. They had it all set up after the monday win over detroit. 3 game lead. All they needed was to go .500 and they'd still be in first on their way to playoffs. |

I don't think it's a "choke." Three key middle order guys haven't really been hitting for over a month- Dunn, Konerko, Pierzynski. The pitching was keeping them alive and it finally got ragged at the end. Obviously, guys like Sale and Quintana aren't the same as they were a few months back. In Sale's case I'd say it's the unprecedented workload that simply wore him down, and for whatever reason, Quintana doesn't have the same pinpoint control that made him so effective earlier. Detroit is just a little better team. And that isn't saying a whole lot. It's too bad they couldn't put Tampa, Oakland, and Baltimore all in and leave these two turds out. |

Wrong. Neither you nor Darkside can define "choke" or show any evidence of it. What the fuck does it even mean? |

Going from 3 games up to 3 games down in a little more than a week is definitely a choke job. |

I don't think you were expressing high expectations for the Sox going into this season. I know you're smart enough to remember that. |

So losing 10 of 12 down the stretch after having a 3 game lead is not choking? Ummm ok. Ok cool, so the Cubs didn't choke in 2004. Now that is a relief |

Losing 10 of 12 when winning the division with less than a dozen games remaining is yet another. Losing 10 of 12 when the fans predict a division win with less than 12 games remaining (and all year) is yet a third definition of choking. I don't care how you define it. It was a choke. Sorry, pal. |

Would it be choking if they lost 10 of 12 but didn't blow the lead? There's no such thing as "choking". Teams are as good as they play. The Sox didn't fall short of most people's expectations. They're going to finish second to Detroit which is what the whole fucking world expected. |
