It moved when I read this article. I say hell yes and the Sox can throw in Sanchez, Snodgress, Casrto or preferably Jared Mitchell. Moustakas would be a perfect long term answer at 3B and his left handed bat would play real nicely at the Cell.

Looks like Hahn is doing a good job taking over the "best GM in the city" title that Kenny left him.

I would think they'd have to give up a lot more than Gavin to get Moustakas.

I was kind of hoping we would get away from dealing prospects. I'd rather hand the job to Sanchez.

Moustakas is 24 years old. What was the similarity score for Rizzo when the Savior traded for him?

I'd expect IMU to say such foolishness.

Sanchez doesn't have the power to be a corner infielder. His value is as a middle infileder. I'm fine moving him for a young left handed power hitting third baseman who is also pretty good with the glove.

This is a story about a writer's speculation without even a hint of a source within either organization. It is as baseless as a Cubs fan's trust in Theo Epstien.

This is a typical case of the fan thinking the guy he doesn't have is better than the guy he does. Floyd is a huge bargain at less than $10 million. They should have tried to extend him for three more rather than just picking up that option. He's a guy you'll miss when he's gone and Quintana or Castro is trying to pick up his innings.

It's called the hot stove league. There is a lot of speculation trying to figure out who might be available and if there is a fit with another team. It's fun you old fuddy-duddy.

Outside of young guys who are under team control, who is paid less to give you what Floyd does? You couldn't sign a free agent like him for that money.

Dempster is probably coming off the best season he'll ever have and he's likely going to cost more than $10 million a season. My guess is the Sox could have extended Floyd for much less than someone is going to give him after this year.

He looks like he might be but I'm not sure he's worth a potential front of the rotation pitcher right now. There's a lot of irrational Floyd hatred among Sox fans. At a baseline he's a guy who is going to make 30 starts and give you a .500 record and he has potential to put together some big seasons. I just think back to how different 2009 might have been had Kenny not given away Vazquez for nothing.

If this is actually up for discussion, the White Sox would be crazy to say no. Floyd is serviceable, and not expensive. He's had roughly a 4 ERA since 2008. 9.5 million option. Moustakas isn't eligible for arbitration until 2015, and there's nothing in the third base market. Floyd could be replaced, at even money or less, in free agency.

Um, he would be third in line on his own team for that right now.

Sale, Peavy, and Danks would all be #1 and #2 starters over Floyd.

You have to give up something to get something. If the Sox have to chance to give up a 30 starts with a 4- 4.5 ERA, a .500 record at or below market value for a potential long term slugger at 3rd base, the Sox need to make that deal. As people have pointed out, you can replace those numbers internally or in the free agent market. Guthrie, McCarthy, Saunders, Pavano, Chris Young, Loshe, maybe even Liriano are all guys that could put up Floydesque numbers for at or below $9mil a season.

You keep going to back to Javy Vazquez who pissed down his pantleg time and time again in September & October 2008. He is small game Javy. Let it go.

Dat's exactly right. Floyd has value but on this team he's a fourth starter where on another team he might be a three or even a two in Kansas City's case. The Sox would be trading from a position of strength to upgrade a position of weakness. It's a no-brainer.

You're probably not going to get any of those guys for less than $9 million a season. There might be a free agent starter out there who is better than Floyd next season for less money, but you probably aren't going to identify him beforehand. And would it vreally surprise you if Floyd was the top guy in the rotation next year? If it would, I have to think you've never seen him pitch.

Moustakas has never posted a 100 OPS+ season. I know he's young, but you're making a lot of assumptions. Morel might be just as good. I guess we'll see next season if either of them progress.

As far as Vazquez is concerned, you're way off base about him. He was a solid 200 inning guy who was going to give you at least .500 in his starts on a decent team and maybe a whole lot more. If they had had him in '09 instead of trying to squeeze starts out of the likes of Torres and Nunez or whoever it was, they may have won the division again. And the fact that he was given away for NOTHING will never be forgotten by me. The deals on Swisher and Vazquez both coming and going have been horrible for the Sox. Kenny Williams has to wear that.

I don't care if Javy was .500 and started 40 games. He sucked in the playoffs and down the stretch when his team needed him most. Nothing off base about that.

Everybody on that list of pitchers going to make less than $9 million this season.

Danks and Floyd's production has been pretty even. I know they were paying for potential, but Danks is making 15 million.

I think Floyd is undervalued by people as well. His inconsistency is frustrating but those long stretches of dominance he has are a thing of beauty. There is no one who makes batters look as foolish as Floyd when he is on.

Lohse is going to be making Danks money. I would take Floyd over every single one of the other people you mentioned Frank.

Floyd career is 4 games over .500 with 4.46 ERA

Vazquez is 5 games over .500 with a 4.22 ERA

There is a reason for that; they are on just as much as they are off. They aren't bad pitchers, but they are very tradeable. And a 35 year old Vazquez didn't even play in 2012.
