The annual SoxFest takes over the Palmer House Hilton one week from tonight through Sunday, January 27th. Before past & present White Sox take part in the team's annual fan convention downtown, there is news regarding what the Sox will be sporting for Sunday home games again this season at U.S. Cellular Field.

Just like last year when the Sox sported 1972 throwbacks in honor of that team's 40th anniversary on Sunday afternoons, the team announced today that the team will sport 1983 throwbacks in honor of that team's 30th anniversary winning the American League West by 20 games.

Just in case you forgot what those '83 uniforms looked like, check this out...

Stick with the red uni's. That uniform from the 80's is nasty. Looks like the Astros old uni.

KS, the thread should say "30 Years Later."

But I can't say that because I don't want to attack SHARK.

You tell him.

They should bring back the 'Good Guys Wear Black' from 20 years ago. Or 20 years later.

My favorite throwbacks are the 1917 uni's;

That they were so much of an improvement over the prior years' unis made them warmly embraced. Drawings of the new uniforms led to cover pages on both the Sun-Times & Trib, and were lauded by columnists & fans alike.

The lettering on the untucked/collared uniform was cool, but they...were...untucked...and...collared.

And a model for middle aged Beer League teams everywhere.

I like how SHARK never, ever, ever under any circumstances ever, responds to criticism.

I remember the ballots to vote on new unis being passed down the aisle. As a young kid, I liked some crazy ass design with a base color of aqua and a star on the front. I embraced my fabulousness as a yout.

You weren't alone. :alien: Thousands of us joined in wanting the Chicago Astros look...and wince every time they now talk about the worst uniforms of all time.

These uniforms always seem to get criticism. I liked them and still do. The dark blue ones with white lettering I think look great.

They're certainly different than anything else you ever saw. They're of a time. I wouldn't want to see them now, but they were kind of cool back then. Old guys hated them because they looked like sloppy softball uniforms with the untucked jerseys. And if old guys hated them, I damn sure was gonna like them. Pass the joint!

Obviously the shorts were terrible, but I've always loved the polo shirts and the lettering.

My favorites are the 1987-89 uniforms. Nice colors. Simple design, yet not boring.

The south side hit men are what sold me on the Sox. I was REALLY young in that era but the something about the rusticness of the crowd/stadium/team attracted me. I could never figure out as a yout what South Side Hit Men meant and why the logo had the guy with a violin case.

Me too. I think that's the only time their jersey ever said "White Sox" and not just "Sox." I really like that C hat.

The black and silver stuff is pretty good.

The cool thing about the South Side Hitmen stuff is that the White Sox actually wore white socks. Not red or black.

The 1987 Uniforms had Chicago on them for the away jerseys.

I could never get past the C looking like the Campbell's soup logo.

Holy blast from the past! That looks like former Dodger Jerry Reuss on the bump at old Comiskey Park in those unis.

Nah, I don't think the whole Montreal Canadiens look really worked for them. And pinwheel caps, ew.
