Seems like an odd move. Why would he do that? http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/02/13/ ... white-sox/ |

I don't think he is convinced he wants to be a manager. |

He did it as a favor to Kenny. He'll probably throw some games this season to make sure the problem takes care of itself White Sox Tradition and all |

Even though he said yesterday that he likes his job and that he appeared to get more comfortable as the season progressed a year ago, guys, I tend to agree about RV managing this team long term. |

He's going to make a lot more when he wins yet another World Series for the White Sox. |

I listened to bernstein break it down. It had to be all about money and the best way to squeeze the last dollar from the situation. It couldn't possibly be that a guy who has enough dough for his next six lifetimes also has enough integrity that he didn't want to commit to another year when he has no idea how he will feel about managing two years down the road. When that concept arose, li'l danny put on his lawyer hat and began writing a contract with an opt out clause. He couldn't understand how a person wouldn't grab as much money as possible as fast as he could. |

Ventura strikes me as sane. Maybe he doesnt want to spend 6 months a year on the road and away from his family. Maybe he has front office aspirations. |

He couldn't understand how a person wouldn't grab as much money as possible as fast as he could. Ugh. As other people have stated, Ventura might not like the managing thing and want out when it's all done and simply doesn't want to commit to anything. Maybe he doesn't want to leave the White Sox hanging at the end with an opt-out clause and such, maybe he has a bit of integrity and doesn't care about "squeezing every last dollar?" His hire was out of the blue, he had little experience and he also seemed to be sort of reluctant. |

Ventura is probably worried the Sox are going to trade him to Miami. |

Perhaps he wants to see what kind of job Rick Hahn will do over the next couple of years. If Hahn gives him a great roster to manage, he might want to stick around. If he decides to rebuild and is handing him a roster full of young players that he can't truely contend with Ventura might want to consider other options. Makes sense to me, |

He knows that the extension is on the table every day until his current contract runs out. He is one of JR guys and we know how loyal JR is to his guys. |
