Act like a good American and avoid public transportation.

Metra Rock Island stop about 500ft east of the current Red Line stop.

Thats what I took yesterday. $10 round trip from Tinley Park. Worked out great.

You guys think this wont affect attendance?

Im not sure.

Given that there will be buses, and another El stop that is 2 blocks away, I don't think it will effect it that much. Parking prices have also been dropped.

It might be a decent idea for the Sox to run a free shuttle bus from the Green Line stop to the front gate though.

It will be a problem. There are a lot of people that won't be able to catch the Metra. Considering it doesn't run like the red line that will create even more problems. The Sox attendance will take a hit.

Is the SCORE gonna call people stupid and say take the Green line?

Wait, if you usually take the Redline from 87th, where do you start your trip?

Does the green line run two blocks down from the redline all the way south?

The Brainerd Metra station is 1.5 miles from the Red Line 87th Station. The Gresham stop is exactly 1 mile west.

Its a mild inconvenience, but if people are using the Red Line as an excuse to NOT go to a game, they are incredibly lazy or downright stupid. Or just a bad fan like Kid :P

No

Brooks Bowyer said 15% of their fans take the red line. I'm going to guess that 14.5% take it north.

The .5% can take a bus to 63rd.

You're missing the point Frank. Besides the fact that most people don't take the Metra (thank God) because of the cost the BIGGEST issue is that the Metra trains don't run as often. That will cause people to have to wait hours for another train or take a route they aren't familiar with.

People will take cars. People that do not have cars I am fairly certain are well versed in public transportation options of all sorts.

A route they're not familiar with? That is a risk you take anytime you leave the house. An accident or something can cause a detour. If the CTA rebuilds the entire redline, or just parts of it, there might be shuttle buses. Power could go out or there could be an accident on the Dan Ryan that might effect the CTA too. Thats a strawman argument if I've ever heard one.

There are 2 metra trains that run after all night and weekend games. One leaves 30 minutes after games end, the other leaves 60 minutes. Not exactly "waiting hours"

Like I said, the Red Line being fucked up is an issue, but its a very mild one. If somebody really wanted to get to the Sox game, there are literally about 10 or 12 ways to get there from the south side that do not involve the red line.

There will be shuttle buses to take passengers from Red Line stations to the Green Line.

It shouldn't be a major inconvenience as far as Sox games.

That's a little confusing. Take it North home? or Take it North to the game?

I would say its probably about even on both sides

I have to take the Red Line north to get south. Orange to Roosevelt, then transfer

North, from 35th Street.
I lived down there for six years. I never took the red line south of 35th Street ever and picked up someone at 95th Street once.

I would disagree based on what I've seen. More people leaving Sox games go north on the redline than south.

Besides, everyone knows that Western is the way to go...

YOU are gonna stay out of White Sox business!

But this is a laughable non-issue compared to the South siders' problem of getting to work w/the Red Line closed for 6 months.

Folks coming from the north have several good options, most coming from the south side already drive. (or catch Metra that lets out 1/2 blk east of the El stop)
