First thing's first. IT'S PROGRESSIVE FIELD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now that's out of my system, the Sox come to the Mistake by the Lake losers of their last 3 after getting swept by the 2013 World Series Champs. The Indians are pretty terrible, too. Tonight: Quintana (0-0, 11.25) vs Masterson (2-0, 0.69) Tomorrow: Sale (1-0, 1.84) vs McAllister (0-1, 3.00) Sunday: Peavy (1-1, 5.56) vs Myers (0-1, 12.19) Coop is still out with a colon. Sox take 2 |

The season is over. When Sales goes down, this team is fucked. Why even bother going to Cleveland? Just give the injuns 3 W's and be done with it. |

I agree with you both, but Kid you have just as many if not more puns than ol' SHARK. |

Your act with SomeGuy, best friend with Ivan, The Crew, etc. The "not so" progressive field is certainly one of the worst on the board, but you are guilty of the puns just as much as anybody. |

Boys take two, possibly all three with tonight's game being the only one in doubt. We need a series win after the embarrasment to the Nats. |

Two things. First of all, I refer to this place as (Not So) Progressive Field for a couple of reasons. 1. This ballpark was originally called Jacobs Field and once upon a time, this ballpark was the toughest ticket in Bud Selig's Major League Baseball when it opened in the '90s. Second, I don't like the name of this ballpark, let alone the annoying commercials with Flo as its spokeswoman. As for the actual baseball, the White Sox have elected to add a 13th pitcher, not call up the Scott Bakula-looking Brent Morel to platoon with Conor Gillaspie at 3B or journeyman infielder Steve Tolleson (?) from Triple "A" Charlotte to replace the Jason Hervey-looking Gordon Beckham for the time being now that Beckham & his broken left wrist are on the DL. The Sox have called up lefty reliever Daunte Heath instead to fill Beckham's roster spot for now. Keep in mind that the Sox are in the midst of 20 straight games without an off day & that Dylan Axelrod's rotten start in Washington yesterday also figured in the decision to call up Heath instead of Morel or Tolleson. |

Then call it Jacobs Field in defiance of corporate sponsorship. Not So Progressive field is just damn annoying. |

The folks down there will tell you that ballpark should've been named after Hank Aaron, not the team's former owner and media mogul who had the nerve to colorize "Casablanca" on his TBS Superstation many years ago. |

Did he not pay for the ballpark? He owned the Braves for many years, as well as starting up his own TBS Superstation & 24/7 news channel called CNN before he sold all of that to TimeWarner a few years ago. He doesn't have the $$$$ to buy back what he created. Seriously. |

Oh for crying out loud, there would be no Atlanta Braves without Ted Turner, TBS, and capriciously throwing money at a baseball team as a hobby. He can have the damn park named after him. Aaron is just as much a Milwaukee figure as he is an Atlanta figure, if not more so. As a Sox fan and an apparent no-corporate-naming-rights fan, do you refer to their park as Comiskey Park, or are you happy to call it U.S. Cellular Field because "Uncle Jerry" brokered that deal? |

But you do, because you wouldn't call it the Cell if not for U.S. Cellular having bought the naming rights, unless you're positing that it would have occurred to you independent of that transaction. I think even more than corporate naming rights, I hate the exhortations to call it some nickname based on the corporation. "From now on, this is Minute Maid Park, but we're hoping fans will call it 'The Juice Box.'" Get fucked. |
