It's funny because it almost always sends the team that loses into a crushing tailspin. I wouldn't be shocked if the Sox were out of it by July now because of the losing streak that started against the Cubs. The crosstown series matters. It's probably the most important of the year. |

It was the most important series of the year.....on May 27th. Now the most important series of the year for the Sox is the Mariners. Thursday it will be the A's, etc. |

Games against a divisional favorite are more important. But I agree that a series that has a lot of fan interest can spur a team on a nice run (if they fare well) or into a bit of a rut. |
