It's funny because it almost always sends the team that loses into a crushing tailspin. I wouldn't be shocked if the Sox were out of it by July now because of the losing streak that started against the Cubs. The crosstown series matters. It's probably the most important of the year.

It's definitely the most pivotal though. The only time I can remember a team recovering from being crushed in the crosstown series to make the playoffs was 2003, and they still hit a mini slide after the series.

It was the most important series of the year.....on May 27th. Now the most important series of the year for the Sox is the Mariners. Thursday it will be the A's, etc.

Yes, in that they all haven't died in a plane crash.

As a team in the pennant race? DEAD.

That's not up to you, champ. My eyerolls are tested and double checked before they are posted.

Every single poster that receives and eyeroll from me can damn well know they deserves it...

ok let me get this straight. 162 games in the season and one interleague series in early June is going to be considered the most pivotal of the season?

This thread was full of win. Well, maybe win isn't the right word but it was full of something.

Games against a divisional favorite are more important. But I agree that a series that has a lot of fan interest can spur a team on a nice run (if they fare well) or into a bit of a rut.

Fan interest? Weren't there fans dressed as empty seats at those games?

There were over 30,000 fans in the park for all 3 games played. How many games this year have the Sox drawn over 30,000????
