Chicago White Sox prospect Micah Johnson won the "Star of Stars'' award Monday night at the South Athletic League All-Star game Monday night at Lakewood, NJ.

Johnson, a second baseman who leads the minor leagues with 54 stolen bases for Class-A Kannapolis, stole second and third base on consecutive pitches and scored a run to rally the North Division team to a 2-1 win over the South.

Johnson, 22, a ninth-round pick from Indiana in 2012, has stolen two or more bases in 16 games.

"He's a very smart player," assistant general manager Buddy Bell said last Wednesday. "He's a sponge for information. He's a strong kid.''

Johnson is batting .339 with five home runs, 36 RBIs and 64 runs in 66 games for Kannapolis. Johnson stole 19 bases in 69 games for Advanced Rookie Great Falls last summer.

Let's just hope he's better than the last Micah to play MLB in Chicago.

We need Keyser to give us a breakdown on Johnson. He's putting up great numbers in Low-A ball, but he's already 22 years old. What's the verdict, Keyser?

He's supposed to put up big numbers because he's playing at a level he's not supposed to be in. I'll wait to see how he handles high A and double A before I get too excited. He also has to clean up his defense (17 errors). The speed is legit.

I supposed it could be worse. At least the Sox free agent bust is only a -0.9 WAR and his ass is gone after next year. Josh Hamilton is at -0.4 WAR and owed literally a wheelbarrow full of $100 bills thru 2017. And we got that high draft pick going for us, which is like a Super Bowl I've heard!!
