while I dont have a team in mind for him to be traded to and maybe he is just done, but are you really telling me Paulie is the sacred Sox? He can't be moved. The greatest players ever to play have been traded or offered for trade and only Paulie cant go? I know he got a ball for Jerry, but let the guy try and work his own deal if he wants, that is the ultimate sign of respect. If he feels he cant help anyone and doesnt want to go, then fine, but if you arent going to traded him, at least have a PAULIE NIGHT in August on a weekend, so the guy feels more appreciated than a Mark Buerhle night in late Sept! Paulie has made it clear in the past he would go if they traded him, he wouldnt fight it, etc. HELLO! What he is trying to say is "TRADE ME" without making it look like I asked to be traded. No doubt he seems like a great guy, would have loved to have him as a Cub, but the "Untradeable" tag. Come ooonn maaahn |

Can he close? Otherwise, there's no market for him. |

Just showing respect to the guy. They'll ask him privately if he wants to go. It's his option anyway. |

Bigfan, how do you know what's happening behind the scenes? |

If Konerko wants to go, I'm sure they'll move him. Has there been an outcry against trading Konerko that I am unaware of? |

Jon Heyman, CBS sports reports The Chicago White Sox are open for business and have made everyone but star left-hander Chris Sale and beloved veteran first baseman Paul Konerko available, rival executives say. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/06/27/heyman-all-but-konerko-sale-available-from-white-sox/ |

As long as they sign him to a one day contract after the season so he can retire a White Sox, then I'm ok with it. I really don't want to see him go, but if it'll get him another ring, fine. |

Post subject: | Re: The Untouchable Paulie |
Last year Paulie said he would go if traded. the RESPECT due to him is asking him what teams he would be willing to go to and then confirming any deal with him before that deal is done. The last thing Paulie will ever say is "trade Me", but by saying "he will accept a trade" I think that is more than obvious he willing to go. Dont worry Sox fans, I am sure he will be your next "roving instructor duriing training camp" and then in 10 years. MANAGER PAULIE! And Sox fans made fun of Sandberg being a manager! Hah! |

Personally, I am more concerned with Hahn's apparent unwillingness to move Sale than I am with his putative position regarding Konerko. Sale has a high trade value; Konerko's is next to nothing. |

Maybe they think they can get the team good early enough that they'll need him while they still have him at a good price. |

Post subject: | Re: The Untouchable Paulie |
well...now that you asked, you must not be aware of these issues. They (Maybe AZ?) wish to acquire a veteran player to come off the bench for a playoff game. While I am sure that is not Paulies goal as a player, it wasnt Gracies either...and that guy became an AZ legend. even with 2 DUI's they still love the guy. I would take Paulie as a pinch hitter above most in a critical situation. As I said, I would not expect to get much for him, but I cant believe that any player would say NO to a trade to a warm weather team where he has a house and they are in a playoff run while his team is done in June and you can expect nothing but empty parks and criticism from media members. The Sale issue might be about Hahn. That extension was his deal. He originated it, to trade the guy 4 months later shows no foresight and he knows this is not what Jerry wants. Maybe Jerry needs to keep him to pose for the Statue? |

The fact you dont like when your team acts like the team you make fun of for thinking with their hearts instead of their heads, then try to turn it into a an issue that I started a thread that nobody is talking about, except pretty much every show on the Score, is a another fine example of your lack of ability to demonstrate thought above an 8th grade level. Thank you for the continuation. Better thread? Where should the statue go? |
