Hopefully the Sox sell off everything they have and lose 100 games. Then they'll draft a Scott Boras guy and not sign him.

Speaking of not signing, the Cubs #1 pick from this year is running out of time to sign.

This is unbelievable. I can't believe how god awful this team has been this year. Now I have images of Carlos Rodon and Jacob Gatewood dancing in my head and it fucking sucks.

Did you really think that would happen?

Boras wants the Cubs to win as much as any team.

Time to start rationalizing the position the Sox are in with phrases like "productive losing" and "we finally have a plan"?

There is no difference between winning 80 games and winning 50 games.

There's no glory in winning 50 games and there's no glory in winning 80 games.

I feel that this season has been just as enjoyable as last season because the Sox are in contention for a top draft pick

What plan?

The Hahn and the PR machine need a catchy slogan to sell it to the fans and a Jewish guy with a computer of some sort to sell it to the local media.

Actually, just start calling Rick Hahn, Rick Hahnenstein and photograph him with a graphing calculator and a computer. Add that with a slogan and BOOM. You're in the big leagues!

How the hell can this team possibly be worse in the standings than the Twins. I realize Mauer is still on this team, but other than him there is not one recognizable pitcher and Morneau, while decent this year, still isn't himself. I expected them to be a middle of the AL team.

My god.

1. Houston 36-72
2. White Sox 40-67
3. Miami 43-65
4. Milwaukee 46-63
5. Minnesota 46-60
6. Cubs 49-60
7. San Fran 49-59
8. NY Mets 49-58
9. Seattle 50-59
10. Philadelphia 50-59

My question is, how is Houston possibly worse?

Post subject:  Re: Race to the Bottom

1. Houston Astros 37-78
2. Miami Marlins 44-71
3. Chicago White Sox 44-71
4. Milwaukee Brewers 51-66
5. Minnesota Twins 51-63
6. Chicago Cubs 52-64
7. Philadelphia Phillies 52-64
8. San Francisco Giants 52-64
9. Seattle Mariners 53-63
10. San Diego Padres 53-63

The Sox moved into a tie with the Marlins. The Cubs better do some losing if they hope to draft Jason McLeod's favorite prospect ever. Alex Jackson probably won't last till #6.

That is crazy seeing the Phils and Giants down there and somehow tied with the Cubs. The Angels can't be far out of this list either.

It's been very tough being a Sox fan this year. I'm just glad they didn't trade Sale. You need someone to build around.

I still can't believe how god awful the Sox have been this year. At least they did it in the right year. The 2014 draft is shaping up to be pretty damn good. We're going to need a draft thread pretty soon.

There's some big market clubs in there.

The difference between the 4th and 10th pick is razor-thin. Teams will start tanking I suspect... oh no, that never happens...

Post subject:  Re: Race to the Bottom

I don't think that happened very often in baseball but it may start with the new pool spending for the draft and international signings. The worse a team is the more money they are allowed to spend and that is a big advantage to have. I can definitely see teams shutting it down sooner wanting to get the benefits that come with having a larger pool of money to spend.

Sox winning of late. I don't think it matters as much to this franchise if they get the 3 pick or the 10 pick.
