3 Way Deal - Avi Garcia (The Cigar Man) from Detroit and 3 Prospects from Red Sox, http://soxprospects.com/players/montas-francelis.htm http://www.soxprospects.com/players/wendelken-jb.htm http://www.soxprospects.com/players/rondon-cleuluis.htm Remember, if its a good deal, then you pay Theo a compliment because he acquired 2 of these 3 prospects. |

The Red Sox prospects all seem like garbage but this Garcia guy is gonna be a star. Helluva trade. |

One seems to have the POWER ARM, which while you dont rely on, if a guy can throw upper 90's, he will always get a look. Not sure Garbage, but not any of their top 10 prospects, that is for sure. They got Garcia for "Jakemeister" ( ) and if they get lucky, one of the three is tradeable or develops. |

Red Sox made out like bandits here. They didn't really give up anything for Peavy who is better than Garza. Looking at that Iglesias guy's stats he was was lightning in a bottle. I doubt he sustains this offense he's never shown anywhere before. |

Kinda thought the Tigers didnt make out so well in the deal. Got a journeyman SS for what the Sox have is a potential star. Boston got exactly what they wanted. |

Funny a JR move would come down to $$$. Boston took all that obligation. We will see if the Sox use any of that free cash to make Rios or Ramirez more appealing to a team like the Pirates. Garcia is a tools guy. Terrible walk rate. That is the Sox' MO though. Too bad they haven't a clue what to do with hitters. His stats suggest at a minimum he should be able to play in the majors....at a Viciedo level (!). On the other hand Peavy was a free agent 6 months ago. So the Sox essentially paid like $9MM for this package of prospects. I guess that's about right. |

I, for the life of me, cannot figure out why the Tigers didn't make Alexi Ramirez part of the trade with the Red Sox shipping Iglesias to the White Sox. Alexi, although down this year in fielding, is more than competent with the glove and he is the far more reliable bat for a team with playoff aspirations. Money is not an issue for the Tigers. |

Nice gamble by Sox and given they unloaded all the Peavy money, gotta give a very high grade to Hahn. |
