Why are you asking White Sox fans to explain the hero worship and blind loyalty to him?

Wrong section.

Incorrect. I know why Cubs fans are as he's the GM. I want to know why White Sox fans equally if not more obsessed. So what are your reasons?

They all root for the White Sox

It's because I want him to win the World Series.

Inferiority complex.

Plus Dan Bernstein hitched his wagon to him, so any failure of The-O means Dan Bernstein is a failure.

Jealous of the Cubs for all the unearned media attention. Pretty much the same story for the last 30 years.

Yeah, but a lot of Cub fans are annoying as shit. The Wayne Stylie types. I don't mind the Jimmy Pastas of the world.

Theo would be jealous of Hahn's academic pedigree.

It's true. As I've written before, Theo seems like a pretty good, down to earth guy who is embarrassed by the media's portrayal of him.

Bump.

Another Chiago media failure pinned on Epstoyer. Take issue with Bernstein and Chicago media being incredibly wrong. National baseball guys kept saying Girardi was staying all along.

Why fire Sveum if you couldn't get Girardi?

And if it wasn't Epstoyer making the call, doesn't that mean there are bigger problems?

1. Sveum failed at developing Rizzo and Castro. Two "pillars" of the rebuild.
2. Yes! Epsteins quotes have been diplomatic but there seems to be frustration behind them. Ricketts stinks.

I blame them for hiring Sveum. I salute them for firing him if they weren't happy with the direction. I would blame them if I thought they fired Sveum to specifically get Girardi and failed. I blame the media for making Girardi seem like the only choice. This hire had better work.

But if you think Sveum was a lousy hire, what makes you think this one will be better? I'm not trying to badger you, I'm just trying to understand your thought process and why Epstein is getting such a long leash from many Cubs fans when others in his position haven't?

He hired a two-time World Series champion manager in Terry Francona.

Who in his position didn't have the same amount of rope? MacPhail? Hendry, in a different role? Further back?

I would argue McPhail also got a long leash and its becausw they both won two titles in the job before Cubs.

Furthermore, whether you think its right or not, I believe Sveum was a place holder.

That being the case, why didn't they just let him finish his contract? Was it because they thought they were going to get Girardi? If that's true, then they're making some pretty big miscalculations, don't you think?

He was fired because they believed he was hurting the development of the players. If he was hired to suck, and then fired because he sucks, that is the worst move that our favorite obsession has made with the Cubs. It would be better for Theo if he thought Sveum was the next Francona and was simply wrong. To hire Sveum as a placeholder and then he is so bad at his job that he can't even be a placeholder for the whole three years is really bad.

I can't believe that Really. Smart. Guys. actually blamed Sveum for the failures of Rizzo and Castro. These are big league players that TheoandJed have already rewarded with seven year contracts. Are we really saying they need "development"? Besides that, it was Theo Himself who fucked Castro up by demanding he take more walks. Thus, I have to believe that Theo (or Ricketts and Kenney) saw the narrow window to get Girardi and dumped Theo's first hand-picked manager to do it. And now they're just going to hire another Sveum.
