Why are the Sox picking so high?

I have no idea. Unlike Cub fans I do not track draft prospects, watch kids play baseball nor worry about the minor leagues. Inform me when they get to the cell or are traded for a major leaguer. Take that BF.

What about those get the cell then get traded, waived or sent back down. Do they count?

The results of the rebuilding or whatever you want to call it will be on display at the big league level this year.

I'd hate to have a season, let alone multiple seasons, where I would have to judge the Chicago White Sox of MLB based on the rosters and production of certain players in Birmingham or Kannapolis.

Take the SS. I trust Cooper to repurpose some retreads into Quintana- types, which can be found later.

We already have our SS for the future from last year's draft.

I asked on the Cub side of this thread, but what happened to that high school catcher who was supposed to be the best hitter in the draft?

It is a more of a remodeling than a rebuild. All of the young players they added are likely in the majors this season (Eaton, Abreu and Davidson). While their minor league system is being rebuilt and improving, they focused on acquiring young talent that can play in the majors.
