I realize there's a lot of jealousy regarding the heaps of attention given to North Side by the media. The Subdivision is quite bitter and I understand their gripes. What I didn't think would happen is the White Sox organization to feel the same way and use a strategy used by the Cubs 15 years ago.

Sox fans, pay no attention to the performance on the diamond. Come to the park to watch Abreu crank homers in 9-2 ass whooping loss! Look how far the ball went! De Aza got picked off again? Don't worry, look there's bacon on a stick! Or how about an adobe mango sausage to keep you occupied? Can't stand watching another disastrous Rienzo outing? It's OK! The Xfinity Zone allows you to charge your phone so you can ignore the crap on the field and play Candy Crush or watch the World Cup on its TVs!

They say fashion recycles every 20 years but who knew washed up marketing philosphies do as well? Remember don't worry about last place as....Oh look Abreu solo homer to make it 7-1!

Kirkwood, the difference is the Sox don't show up to the ball games. Honestly, I think Sox fans have much higher expectations of their team. You make it sound like they are all too happy to see Abreu homer even if the team loses.

The offense has been pretty good this year across the board

The parallels are uncanny on how Sox brass are trying to sell fans on everything but the baseball team. FUNdamentals deck, bacon sticks, deli sandwiches, phone charge station and other ancillary offerings. Anything to take your eyes off the diamond but in the park was a key tenet of Cubs marketing with Sosa. I do praise tanagement for their charitable efforts in offering free showers to their flock. Letting fans experience joy of a shower and thereby teaching fans showering is healthy is an invaluable service to Chicagoland.

Except the Cubs used everything around the park to market themselves and now want to put up signs and building parking towers that could take away from some of those same businesses they have profited off of for years. Whoops, troll fail.

I don't think Sammy Sosa had a playbook, nor could he read it even if he had one.
