On Baseball reference, I see Chris Sale's nickname is "The Condor". I know I watch and listen to more Sxo games here than anyone, but I must have missed this nickname? Anyone ever hear that one?

bigfan, let me ask you something. If you are going to start a thread like this, why delete the replies and jokes people make? Is it because you can? Is it because you have thin skin and it bothers you? Is it because you just feel like being a prick sometimes? I don't get it. People make all sorts of jokes, post gifs, pics, and whatever else to everybody else, but you regularly delete them in your own threads for some strange reason.

I had no idea Sale was called the Condor. Maybe its a childhood nickname or a Twitter handle. So I posted a Seinfeld quote based on the movie '3 days of the Condor' and you delete it. Why?

The name has been around for a year or two. I think it's because of the way he pitches. His arms go out to the side.

Edit: found a picture.

Looks to be a standard inverted W though...many pitchers use it. Especially ones that have career arm troubles. :)

Unlike Mark Prior who had a perfect delivery.

Mark Prior used the inverted W.

This is a common misconception with the inverted W (even among so called experts). Sale doesn't have the standard inverted W because he leans forward in his delivery so his elbows never get above the level of his shoulders. You can see the difference between the two deliveries below. Sale leans forward while Prior is straight up and down. Sale's elbows do not get above the plane of his shoulders which is the key element to the inverted W.

Why the fuck are people saying "inverted W. Why not call it an M?

Why did the blonde get fired from the M&M factory? Because she threw away all of the W's.

This isn't a Seinfeld quote or rap lyrics, so hopefully this post stays.

I guess Im not seeing the big diffference there. Looks like Sale's throwing elbow is above his shoulder plane there

The plane of his shoulders if he were standing straight up. Because he leans forward his elbows do not go above that plane.

If you can't figure it out, clearly your stupid head isn't above your shoulder plane.

The plane of his shoulders if he were standing straight up. Sale leans forward which lowers his elbows so they never get above the plane of his shoulders.

No man, if he was stnading arms akimbo if Jupiter were aligned with Mars and there were more than 13,000 people in the stands each with an average weight of 168 lbs with corrected 25/20 vision or better on a Tuesday afternoon in September if, and only if, Cooper had snuck away for a cigarrette and couldn't yell on the field to stand the fuck up straight already.

That is called Scap Loading. His pitching mechanics still consist of the Inverted W delivery. These terms are mutually exclusive. You can pitch using the standard W, Inverted W, Inverted L...and still scap load.

In fact, while looking this up even more...scap loading is referred to as one of the most irresponsible things to teach young pitchers.
