Post subject:  Who Will Buy The Sox?

As Uncle Jerry ages and the dizzy spells increase the odds of him stepping aside increase each year. At 78 years old, I think everyone has finally seen his power take it's first hit in the Commisoner deal.

Michael Reinsdorf, is going to run the Bulls, Jon (His other son) has no interest in the Sox....at least in the current scenario.

Most of the money that was put into the Sox is looking at massive capital gains, many of those investors have passed and the money will go to their heirs.

Combine that will the cubs becoming a very possible MLB powerhouse with really good teams, media, park, etc.

All signs point to the team being sold.

Who buys it? I know it would kill (not literally) to sell them at a low point, but that very well may be the scenario?

And my Vegas Sox scenario comes back on the board! or Table! Especially with the NHL breaking the ICE (per say) in Vegas with a first pro team!

I will release this part of the inside info, that the originator of the Vegas baseball franchise was/is the son of a Sox investor. So, there are Sox ties to the Vegas scenario.

Very interesting stuff... Mark Cuban wants an MLB franchise so bad he could taste it. I could see him making a play?

of course he doesnt want to, it is against everything he has ever done, but what if he is gone? or he isnt in control anymore and some things dont work out.

I mean the 'Cy Young Race" guy is not one for having a long term career and the MVP has an OUT in his deal after next year, and if he drops 40 HR's, I am just guessing a few more dollars are going to be requested. Will the Sox be in the position to give a guy a $20 M a year deal for 5 years?

These are all very real scenarios

Kenny will need a loan from Jerry.

Still not sure why Kenny needed a loan to buy a $2M place. Yeah, he got divorced, but he should have been making $2.5M to $5M a year for the last 10 years. Oh yeah, he opened a mega bar to pick up chicks and didnt own the building!

He is eligible for arbitration after year three.

If the Sox moved to Vegas, would you Sox fans still root for the team?

Vince will line up the money. Kenny will be the front man/managing partner.

I thought he is a FA and Arb has nothing to do with it. Thats the whole, Move to DR for 6 months, get US papers, blah blah blah...Thought it was 2015, but could be 26 there is an OUT, not ARB

Ask Keyzer, he has all contracts on file

How much would they go for? Clippers = $2B.....Buffalo Bills appear to be going for under $1B

I'm a Cubs fan...would hate to see the Sox leave and make the Cubs the only game in town! That would suck...but I guess my season tickets might become more in demand...so there's that!

He is eligible for arbitration after year 3. The Sox still control him but it could give him a pay raise.

regardless, not enough to buy the Sox.

Then when the Sox break the US cell lease, who do you think you think you are going to sue? and who cares? 10 years at $1.6 Mill...pay it and leave.

Now what does the state do with....US Empty park?

Let me throw a GREAT log on the fire for the South side....BEARS PARK! With some Military twist, have to acknowledge veterans...

They have the space to expand it.

Yes. That is what it means. The Sox control Abreu for 6 years.

The Sox are not leaving. Colorado and Oakland are pretty much the ones who are gonna move if someone gets relocated.

The White Sox are also the more popular team in the city proper (incoming butthurt from Cubs Nation), and the city might actually grow this go around on the census.

the team could be a decent member of MLB if it wasn't run by an idiot.

You might even be correct, but I think we all know it doesnt translate to paying fans, viewers or listeners, which is kind of the point.

I think the Sox taking a Rosemont-type deal could resuscitate the franchise.

2010 Census
Chicagoland: 9.68M
Chicago: 2.7M
ex-Chicago: 6.98M

What slice do you think Sox own of $2.7M? How about what slice of 6.98M? Just wondering. You appear to have some inside info.

The owners in Colorado have actually threatened relocation.

As for the first point, America is urbanizing and the neighborhoods the Sox occupy are gentrifying. The Sox suffered from people unwilling to drive into the city, but as more people live in the city (especially more young people) they'll get a better draw. New ownership will be looking to get some public money to build a new park that isn't a concrete sarcophagus, they'll probably get it.
