So some reporter in Bloomington IL tweeted he's hearing Samardzija to the Sox will happen this weekend. I'd normally dismiss this without a second thought BUT this same guy tweeted he heard Dunn was going to Oakland........the day before it happened.

Remember this guy is only a sportswriter for a small paper. The story would have much more credibility if it came from a teenaged internet creep.

I think Rosenthal had both Chicago and Boston as two teams who were (are?) interested at some point this off-season. If they did make a trade for him without an extension, that would be a very strange move for the White Sox. While it would be nice to have a top 3 with him, Sale and Quintana, for a team trying to rebuild it's minor league system, I don't think trading for a 1 year rental makes a ton of sense.

Along with losing pitcher John Danks that'll be a formidable Staff. The top of JORRs head will explode if that actually happens.

And these rumors have been everywhere since yesterday, so Keyzers guy on Twitter is just reading news reports. Read it at MLB Rumors yeterday at lunch.

It will be interesting because Beane is said to reworking the club to build again, which should be no surprise to anyone, so he is looking for building blocks. What building blocks do the Sox have to trade?

Great 4 of 5 starts a month. its that 5th start, when he cant get past the 2nd inning and lets up 7 ER. Its what holds him back from being the Ace of a staff he wants to be paid as. its why he isnt on the Cubs anymore. He wants to be paid as an Ace and he is a really good #2

That's the thing about guys with stuff like he has- you always think they're going to be better for your team. They usually aren't.

And what do you have to give up for him? I'm sure chances are good that Beane abuses you. And then you've got him for one season. Can you sign him? I'd rather just pay Shields who probably costs about the same. Or McCarthy who costs less.

Yeah this really doesn't make much sense to me.

Alexei's name has been mentioned but I don't see that as a fit though you never know with Beane. The only guy I wouldn't trade is Tim Anderson. I'd move Montas in a second. Hawkins is a guy Beane would like because he loves big power and doesn't care about strike outs. Throw in one of the utility infielders (Semien/Johnson/Sanchez) and it's done and done.

Collecting former Cub players is always a good idea.

The A’s were discussing a trade for Jeff Samardzija. Shortstop Alexei Ramirez may be the A’s prime target, but they also like infield prospect Tim Anderson and utility fielder Marcus Semien, reports Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle.

Source of further tension between the GM and the guy who didnt understand that he was bumped upstairs to not be the GM. Uncle Jerry may need to step into this one too before it is over. Not into the specific deal, but the hierarchy situation.

KW style would be to give up Ramirez AND Anderson to make sure the deal got done before the end of the weekend. KW loved to overpay

I can't see the White Sox trading their best prospect (Anderson) for a 1 year rental. I have a hard time seeing Oakland taking guys like Marcus Simien for him either.

If Anderson were part of the deal Oakland would have to grant a 48 hour window to negotiate a long term deal or it wouldn't make sense. If Anderson is not in the deal I'd take the chance to resign him and take the compensatory draft pick if he walks.

Wonder if the guy that was kicked upstairs ever received any job offers to be GM anywhere else? NOT!!!

The idea that the White Sox would pay him market value is a joke!!!! Are we going to play that ludicrous HOME TOWN DISCOUNT game again?

None that I know of.....and there was that rumor of him going to LA....which was a terrible rumor, as they hired the Anti kenny in Andrew Friedman.

So typically Reinsdorfian to have a GM with the old GM still around. JERRY'S KIDS. This Summer I went to one of their cattle call season ticket holder parties in the Miller Lite Suite. What I noticed is that only about 1/3 of their premium suites on the 3rd base line had a plaque of some business outside the door. Few companies are buying them on a season basis. 1/2 the suites that night had nobody in them. They can't find a sponsor for the ChiSox Bar and Grille.
This can only get worse.
Bottom 3 in attendance and local TV viewership.
Was Reinsdorf the Captain of the Titanic in a past life?
