Sox. I would like it to occur more often but I guess I can accept a World Series Championship every 10 years. |

did the sox give up any highly rated prospects? semien didnt really show much last year, never heard of bassit (i didnt watch any white sox baseball in september) kind of surprised the a's traded him now given what the gave up to get him you'd have thought that unless they were getting a stud in return they'd just hold on to him this year till july at least sidenote - 46 mil to a closer? what percentage of closers actually keep their jobs for more than 2-3 years? |

I know Dolphin is being facetious, but anyone who "loves" Shark is a baseball moron. |

Think about how brilliant Hahn is: he bought a guy worthy of the #1 prospect in baseball six months ago for a utility infielder. Who's move was more genius, Epstein getting Russell for Samardzija or Hahn getting him back for Semien? |

I will withhold my judgement because I still think Billy Beane is a wise GM. |

No GM wants his legacy to be the title of most prudent GM of his era. 30 years from now Satan Elf Brian Cashman will have several world series trophies to point to as his legacy. Beane will be able to point to money in the A's owner estate. He saw 2013 as his chance to change that and went all in. |

Getting a potential star will always rank higher than renting a #2/3 starter for a year. It says a lot about how foolish Beane can be. Of course it's possible he could be raping the Sox again. |

I think both moves by the Chicago GMs were great. Epstein got a windfall and Hahn got a bargain. These past six months are going to be a black cloud on Beane's work |

Beane on the other hand, should he ever succeed, it will be all about him. And black cloud? How about we wait to see how his prospects he got rid of pan out at the major league level. |

Yeah, they got a guy with heavy stuff who can take a lot of innings for $10 million and all they had to give up was a .650 OPS third baseman and a wild righty. |

JORR, do you see the Sox being able to sign him long term or is this just a one year addition? |

Unless he has some kind of crazy season and then he probably costs you even more. I'm fine with giving up what they did for a one year shot with a guy with that kind of stuff at a cheap salary. Worry about next season's rotation next season. |

Next year you plug in Rondon, after a year of seasoning in the minors, lose Danks, who will be much more moveable in the last year of the deal then sign a nice FA starter and all is good |
