I can only imagine gd's reaction if Cabrera had signed with the Cubs. |

I don't think it was the $20M as much as the animated video of him on the mound winning the 7th game of the WS. That really put it over the top. |

Quote: “The thing I liked about ’em is it wasn’t forced and wasn’t a sales pitch,” Lester said after his meeting with the Cubs. “It was like, ‘This is what we can do.’ I don’t want BS. I don’t want show. I don’t want glitz and glamour. I don’t want to walk out to the field with your name and number on the JumboTron. I’m not 18 anymore. I want you to tell me what you can do for me and my family.”

I guess it has nothing to do with the potential "tidal wave of Cub popularity" he sees coming. That term from the great Steve Stone. |

Jerry has always spent.Except for about an 18 month stretch in 2005 and 2006, The Cubs have always been more popular than the Sox, so I don't know what you or Steve Stone is talking about. |

Prior to 1984 the Sox would outdraw the Cubs regularily. |

Well yeah. Thats pretty obvious. Prior to 1988, the Sox had night games while the Cubs did not. |
