Cubs only had to overpay by $20 million to get a guy to feel comfortable signing with them.

:lol: I can only imagine gd's reaction if Cabrera had signed with the Cubs.

I don't think it was the $20M as much as the animated video of him on the mound winning the 7th game of the WS. That really put it over the top.

Rios, Dunn, Peavy, Konerko. All of those guys are gone. All of those guys were making big bucks. Jerry has always spent.

Except for about an 18 month stretch in 2005 and 2006, The Cubs have always been more popular than the Sox, so I don't know what you or Steve Stone is talking about.

deal looks pretty good considering Rios just signed for 11 million next year
