$49 for 21 games. This is desperate, but I like it.

It is a great concept. For those that are unfamiliar, this is an app that runs on your Android or Apple phone... a couple of hours before the game, you are given a barcode and assigned a seat (yes, the seats suck -- outfield, corner outfield, or corner upper deck(!) ) but because they wait that long, they can sell all the lower deck tickets they can and put you cheapies in the upper deck. But if you are going on this pass, you probably know how to sneak down to the unoccupied lower deck seats. So it is a win-win. Oh and they even thought about buying more than one pass -- they group them together so if you and your buddy want to go, as long as you purchase together, you'll sit together.

Hell they ought to let people in for free. Probably would call it a SELLout.

I usually go to 2 or 3 Sox games a year... usually only pay like 10 anyway.
Now if they had a bulk deal on parking... we're talking!

I guess it makes sense for teams or any business really that the closer you get to deadline sell for whatever you can get. You run the risk of everyone doing that though.

Wasn't meant to offend the sensitive Sox fans. BTW I liked your band on FB. Gonna put some audio up?

Do they tell you which games in advance. It would suck to burn through 14 in April then get weekday afternoon games to fill out the rest.

G.Soto and Abreu need to get back on the juice.
Have not been to the Cell in years, but man Jerry has really let it go.

Ok, I'm wrong.

Ballpark Pass gets you for $30 bucks all Mon-Thurs April and May games
Ballpark Pass Plus gets you for $49 all April and May games except Opening Day and Konerko day.

That's even better.

What's the easiest way to sneak onto the lower level?

#1 They aren't going to have anyone looking at tickets at their little station most of April so you will be able to walk right in.
#2 Go through the kids play area, you will probably prefer this option

Just walk right by the people there to take the tickets. Seriously, they are too lazy to bother. If they know you they dont care. If they dont, and you're polite, you can ask them and they often say yes.

I bought the plus. Its just too good of a deal, I wont be able to make the day games but even with that it's going to come out to like $3 a ticket. $3, that's how much it costs to the Orange Line to the Airport plus like 30 minutes of parking. And these are guaranteed seats, I cannot get blacked out of any of these dates. I might sit in the worst seats at the park but FUCK IM PAYING NO MONEY.

agreed. good divisional opponents too in the tribe, tigers royals. it's going to cost me more in gas money to get to cumberland and blue line fare than the game.

Interesting nugget in Crain's today:

Quote:
RENT IMPLICATIONS?

Filling more seats early in the season when weather tends to keep fans away would help boost its paid attendance figure, but it's unclear how the deals will affect the attendance number that affects the Sox's annual rent payment to the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority, which owns the ballpark.

Under the team's management agreement, the Sox pay ISFA a per-head fee on a graduated scale for every ticket sold beyond 1,925,000 for the season. It has not paid such fees since the 2010 season, when the Sox drew 2.2 million fans.

But complimentary tickets and those that are sold for less than $3 apiece do not count toward that ticket total, which means the difference between what the Sox report as total paid attendance and what ISFA counts for rent purposes may be a bit inflated this year.

A spokesman for ISFA, which handles annual debt payments on the stadium, could not be reached for comment.

I think another reason is all the April/May series are divisonal opponents except the Reds series. They trying to avoid the crowd being 30%-40% of the opponents fans. Tigers fans especially seem to show up.

Well it explains why the price seems to fall, apparently quite conveniently, just below that $3 threshold. I wouldnt be shocked if at $4/game (still a ludicrously cheap price that most people would impulse buy) it actually would cost the Sox more than at $3. Reinsdorf strikes again!

Speaking of out-of-town fans, as more and more time passes since the Tom Gamboa incident the park has gone back to being a lot more hostile to them. Particularly divisional opponents. I went to 6 games last year at the Cell and I saw more fights than I did all of 2011.

1. One time I just walked pass the guy checking tickets. He yelled at me but he didn't chase me down. Cuz I went in with a mob of people and he couldn't leave his post. He had to keep checking tickets. At the end of the day, they don't care. Especially when it's a small crowd.

2. This is the better way. Go to the Sports Bullpen bar before the game. Everybody is allowed there regardless if you have upper or lower deck tickets. So you're already in the lower level. Then from there you just go wherever the hell you want. Somebody asks you for your ticket, say you lost it. But nobody asks after you leave the bar. So it doesn't matter.

Here is an idea. If you and a friend want to go to "A GAME" on a Tuesday Night in April, just walk up and buy seats. Dont need 'An App"

The app that offers seats that are available at the last second is a great idea, or even once the game has started, but to have you pay $49 is OK if you know who you are going with and they paid $49 and you are OK with shit seats.

or, just call Mitch and ask for some free seats

You know if you pay the money for the app that the tickets are free right?

Or just buy the April and May weekday games on stub hub. I'm sure the season ticket holders will be selling them for $1.

You buy the app and are given "A" Ticket....? is this correct? I have been to games alone, but its because its my tickets, nobody used them, I got home, the game started and I walked over.

But do they provide you 2 tickets to attend the game with someone? or 3 others?

Essentially buying upper deck, weekday tickets for April and May? Would you pay $49..........?

I thought for $49 you can go to MANY games?

you can go to every april and may game except opening day and the konerko ceremony. so 21 games at ~$2.67 a game.

I bought two. I'll go to maybe ~10 games so it'll cost me $5 a pop. I think that's fair.

So what the fuck are they talking about A game? If you go to 10 games you can't beat this.
