Veteran, good hitter...not great...good....Cards with some injuries.

Looking to get him for nothing....just taking the salary...and if I am the Sox I jump at it...Kenny will need Hahn to get ANYTHING back...ever a McGuire poster....but the ego wont allow a pure salary dump, even if it is what they should be doing right now, so they can go for it again next year.

Let me say this is the nicest possible way...LAROCHE is a complete Redneck who plays baseball. I am sure he would have clicked nicely with AJ, Buerhle, Jake and the rest of the Duck Dynasty wannabes...but that is a guy who will just do better in St louis...with Kolten Wong :D

And if you think I am making up the Laroche redneck stuff....I love his Bio that ends with "he has ADD"

Having watched Laroche here a ton he is a second half hitter. That was complaint here. All the homers in August when pirates were done.

That guy must have the smallest dick in the world. What an asshole.

He's a bum , and he's an old bum getting older every day...it would be a bad move to acquire this guy..but the Cards will make bad moves now n then , like trading Shelby Miller.. Hope it happens Its good 4 cubs.

Ernie Broglio my ass! I'm so sick of that Lou Brock bullshit!

The Cubs later also made deals like this:

* Acquired Glenn Beckert in the draft from Boston who won a batting title :342 average

* Acquired Bill Hands & Randy Hundley from the SF Giants

* Ferguson Jenkins & Ryne Sandberg from the Phillies

Yet no one mentions this.

Those were good deals, Jimmy, but seemed to be the exception and not the rule.

Hell, I was just glad when they got Fergie back. I was able to see him throw a gem.

I still can't believe they got rid of Fergie, Madlock and Holtzman.

The problem with your statement is they got rid of Fergie in order to get Madlock. Bill demanded a pay raise and old man wrigley didn't like the black man that spoke up. He was traded for Steve Ontiveros and Bobby Murcer. That also was a good deal for the Cubs for about 1 season.

Point taken on the Fergie/Madlock trade. Forgot they were traded for each other. Still should have kept Madlock.

There will be more than one team looking to acquire him by the trade deadline. I wouldn't salary dump but I would prioritize moving him. I'd also see if any kind of market will emerge for Melky. I'd bet someone would take Bacon for free. He has shown he can play plus defense at three infield positions and he is signed short term.
