In my wed night softball league, I agree.

While some guys can develop late, he is 27 and has been given multiple chances. Actually a very good defensive 3B and from all accounts a very good dude to have around, just didnt cut it against MLB level pitchers. Working with Harold Baines should straighten him out though.

seems like one of these mental cases. if you can hit .270 in AAA, you should be able to hit .220 in the bigs.

Neither can Matt Davidson, which is why taking a no risk flier on Olt does not hurt at all.

He would be a Japanese Leage monster and a legend.

Olt looks the part as good as anyone. He is a big guy, fluid, etc...it all looks like it should work. I dont even blame the Sox for taking the flyer on him right now, but thats doesnt preclude me from taking potshots at the Cubs garbage....as usually, when you take such a flyer, you send him down, maybe work with him "a little" try and do something different? The Sox let him start right away....

...the guy has hung on for this long, cutting a MLB check. Congrats.

Go to grad school when you are 30 with $1 mill in the bank! Its why I would advise any kid to take the money when offered. You can attend class with a torn ACL!

Multiple chances sounds like more than he's had. Half season with Cubs and three weeks with rangers.

If he can hit 230 hell stay in majors

Carlos Gomez was right around that age when he figured it out.

I would have a different opinion if he was taking time from someone I would want to see at that position in the future.

At least you don't lose something at defense with him there. The Sox have been at their best this year when they turtled up by sticking to defense and pitching as their path to success.

Gomez also had over 1500 major league AB's under his belt before he figured it out. Olt has 322 horrible major league AB's.
