2013: 63-99
2014: 73-89
2015: 76-86

Progress is being made. By 2020 Sox will likely be hovering around 92 wins and a playoff berth.

There is an OK core in place.

CF/leadoff - Eaton
DH - Abreu
1SP - Sale
2SP - Rodon
2SP - Quintana

Not really anything left after those 5 but ace, right handed slugger and solid leadoff hitters are hardest to find other than catcher.

Bullpen could be really good and cheap with Fulmer and Montas.

Once you bleed out Danks, Laroche, Duke and Ramirez contracts that's over 30 million to spend on a quality bat(s).

I'm happy with 3 SOLID starters.

I'm happy with an elite 1B/DH.

I'm happy with a seemingly young talent like Thompson.

I'm not happy with the Front Office, Coaching Staff, bullpen, or you.

Compare the Cubs "core" when they were at their lowest point in recent history to the Sox:

2011
1SP: Garza
2SP: Dempster
3SP: Zambrano
SS: Castro
C: Soto
2B: Barney

That's being very generous to say Dempster was a core piece. 4 years later the Cubs now have 3rd best record in baseball. Sox current core is much better than 2011 Cubs.

Melky Cabrera quietly had a pretty decent season after a horrendous start. I'd like to think Avi Garcia would be better-- as 2015 was only his second full year in MLB-- but 2016 is make or break for him.

I agree with Peeps, but would also add that Saladino looks like he could be a nice piece going forward in the infield. Not a superstar by any means, but he at least looks like a guy that could play good defense and give you some solid offensive production.

Eric Johnson will be better than Danks and Shark were this year.

I won't make a pronouncement that he is great but there is a lot of evidence to indicate you are incorrect.

When you have two very good starters (maybe even 3) you're not too far away from contending

Right, but this thread is about the Sox.

Either discovered by Prince or given a larger audience because of him. Can't remember which.
