This here says it is for a 1st round pick.

The Bulls have given up on 2009 first-round pick James Johnson, whom they traded to the Raptors on Tuesday The Bulls will receive the Miami Heat's 2011 first-round pick, which was held by Toronto.

Johnson left Bulls practice early in a limousine.

"I consider JJ a little brother," Joakim Noah said. "He wasn't playing a lot. I hope he gets an opportunity to show what kind of player he is."

So if the Bulls beat the Heat in the playoffs, they get a higher pick?

Looks like the D-League stint was just showcasing him for a trade. I wish JJ would have been given a shot this season, but there was just no room in the rotation for him. From what I heard, he really worked on his game this past offseason.

He showed some flashes in the home opener and in the Phoenix game this year, but couldn't get on the floor any other time the whole year.

I also thought he had potential. Given the high minutes they are playing Deng, he should have gotten a little more time. I liked his energy. Oh well.

I have to imagine there will be more to this pick when all is said and done.

Isn't wanting James Johnson to play over Luol Deng crazier than comparing Luol Deng to Carmelo Anthony?

I wasn't inferring JJ to play over Deng, but rather to give Deng some more rest. I take it you are aware of Deng's penchant for injury?

DON'T DO 'EM LIKE THAT, HARD BAKE!!! THE PEOPLE AIN'T READY FOR THIS KIND OF REALNESS!!!

Ahem. * coughs and clears throat *

I'm on board with this move because it's akin to the Thabo Sefolosha do-over deal, which netted da b00 a first round draft pick that turned into either James Johnson or Taj Gibson. Sure, James Johnson technically was drafted ~15th and this pick is very very likely to be in the upper 20s, if not #30, but I'm pretty certain in saying that James Johnson wasn't likely to ever flourish on this team, so now you can essentially take a veritable-nothing in JJ and turn around and roll the dice again, hopefully for a competent two guard.

Don't forget, the vaunted Landry Fields was a second round draft pick this year. Yeah, he's the exception and not the rule, but he does remind you that it's quite possible to find something solid out there if you put in your due diligence in the scouting dept.

Jason Goff sent this out from Eric Pincus:

hmm - Bulls now have $2.9 mil in cap avail - and Anthony Parker makes how much? $2.86 . . .

James Johnson wasn't making $3M and I really hope they don't trade a #1 for Parker.

I'm not saying it's a good idea. Just passing the information along.

I'm pretty sure the Bulls had this much space available before the trade of James Johnson.

If they give Cleveland a first for Parker thats essentially JJ for Parker. Not a bad deal.
