The Bulls are playing 3 on 5 most nights. The Spurs have 5 guys that can make a play offensively in their starting lineup. So does G.S. Cleveland has 4. The Bulls have 3. Taj Gibson is a bum as a starter. He provides effort but that's it. 7 points and 7 rebounds for a starting power forward is putrid. Those are Luc Longley like numbers.
He can't pass either. He is a poor fit for pace and space. Tony Snell doesn't score enough either. They don't have to guard either of them and it bogs the offense down. Mirotic is not the shooter that he was advertised to be either.
Butler is a bad three point shooter and so is Rose. That kills the space part of the system and Gasol and Taj can't run which kills your pace. Butler is also more of a half court player so the push part of the offense is non existent.
I can accept that the personnel doesn't fit Hoiberg's "system" but I can't accept that they don't have enough talent. They are talented enough to compete for a top three spot in the east. Thibs proved that last year when he went 50-32 with Rose and Noah missing a lot of time. Hoiberg needs to grow up fast or gtfo and take Forman with him.
Gasol had a hell of a yr for them last yr and it was doubtful that he'd duplicate it this yr. He was arguably along with Butler their best player. They aren't getting anything from the 3 and 4 spot. Dunleavy played a key role last yr. .500 without him. Mirotic has regressed also.
They have talent but they don't have the talent to run his system. Doug Collins just stated the same thing.
Their bench is also thin. It was apparent in the game against G.S. and also last night against Boston.
