Blessing in disguise. Wendell Carter will benefit from the increased playing time at the start of the season and Portis is a starting caliber player anyway. Hopefully he doesn’t miss more than November though.

Maybe he can provide the boost Niko did last season.

But 8 weeks for an elbow in basketball smells.

Another gut punch after the AD to the Lakers news. Going no where. NBA is a mess.

yeah, how do you fuck up an elbow that bad playing hoops? Unless he or someone else fell on it super awkwardly, or Bobby Portis twisted his arm behind his back in another scuffle...doesn't make sense. Maybe an Andrew Bogut type hanging on the rim too long injury.

Hoiberg needs to have those guys doing pre-practice yoga stretching. Markkanen's chi was probably way off-center, resulting in this injury.

Why not cancel the 2018-2019 season; have the Warriors-Celts play for the title and then get on with breaking up Golden State and building up the Lakers (AD and Klay and Kawhi) and wherever KD and Kyrie and maybe Butler as their 3rd end up.

It will only be 3-4 weeks of regular season time but it hurts because it is more of not knowing what your team will look like at full strength. Good for Portis because it gives a chance to see what he looks like as a starter. Should necessitate starting Carter now as it makes an already crappy defensive unit even worse.

Any chance they move Parker to PF and start Valentine or Hutchison at SF?

I thought about that and part of me think it may be best but then I think about either Holiday or Valentine starting and just think yuck. Don't want to see Holiday especially. Valentine may be serviceable and the rookie isn't ready. Its going to be tough but I'd try Portis at the 4 first and if the D is terrible then you make the switch.

Thought of Bobby Portis being a starter doesn't do a damn thing for me

Hoiberg said Parker is the PF and Holiday is at SF.

Denzel jacked his ankle stomping on Markkanen's arm trying to Dak his way into the starting lineup.

Might be a good thing as they appear to like Hutchinson more anyway. If he shows anything I can see them moving Valentine.
