Michael Beasley measured at 6-7 without shoes, and 6-8 ¼ with. His wingspan in 7-0 ¼ and his standing reach is 8-11. He did fairly well in the combine, lifting the 185 bar 19 times, jumping 35 inches on the max vert, but measuring a slightly high body fat at 7.7%

Nas, do you have to pay?

Derrick Rose came out a bit shorter than advertised, at just 6-1 ½ in shoes and 6-2 ½ in. He has a 6-8 wingspan, a 40 inch vertical and ran the 3/4 court sprint very fast at 3.05.

The wingspan for Rose is somewhat of a saving grace for his height.

Well I guess thats that on Beasley. If he is lucky and adds another 25 pounds of muscle he could probably play PF. Suddenly the Melo comparisons seem a bit more valid, although Im guessing he will play harder, defend better, and not score as easily as Melo.

I am reading some comments on realgm.com and apparently his standing reach at 8'11" is similar to Al Horford so they are drawing the comparisons that he could still play PF in the league.

I wonder what the biggest gap in wingspan in the league is. I think Tayshaun Prince is 6'9'' with a 7'3'' wingspan.

I was saying gap between height and wingspan.

I think he means the biggest difference between height and wingspan. If so, I'd say Prince.

Yeah, the Melo comparison is an interesting one. I do think Beasley will be a very good scorer. He seems to have all kinds of offensive skills, though it's hard for me to judge how explosive he is off the dribble.

If he can attain the offensive repetoire Melo has at any point, he could be one of the great players in the game. Im going out on a limb and guessing he'll defend, rebound, and play harder than Melo, because you can count on one hand the number of players in the league who take less advantage of their talent.

Some that are big in 2008 class

Joey Dorsey 6'7 height, 7'2" wingspan
Eric Gordon 6'3", 6'9" span
Richard Hendrix 6'8" 7'3" span
John Riek 7'0", 7'8" span

Sorry about that. Just looked it up and it appears Prince doesn't have the longest wingspan (looks like he should). When he was drafted his wingspan was measured at 7 feet. Some say his wingspan is 7'2". Either way Beasley's wingspan would be longer than his. Saer Sene has a wingspan that is 9.5" longer than his height.

Must have been another case of networks sensationalizing things to make a point. I've heard announcers refer to his wingspan has 7'3'' multiple times this postseason.

I read that Andrei Kirilenko had the same reach as Greg Ostertag when they played together. Ostertag is 7'2", so I have to think Kirilenko's wingspan is freakish compared with his height of 6'9" (think, 7'5").

I think that officially makes Beasley a "tweener". He certainly can no longer be considered the answer to your lack of a post game.

He could end up translating very well, but sometimes players like him end up lost in the shuffle because they are incapable of handling all the responsibilities of either position.

One thing is clear, he isn't, and never will be a center.

I basically agree with the article, but think that Beasley is best suited for the 3 in the NBA. If he continues to bulk up, he will be a 4.

I can see Beasley getting up to 254 pounds like an Elton Brand. His length makes him a PF

I agree that it's likely he'll be a PF, but a 6-7 PF scares me. He may have a large wingspan, but so will the 6-10 post players he is going against.

Beasley is looking like a classic case of a post player who could get away with his height in college but in the much more competitive NBA will have a harder time.

I don't think Beasley will provide the Bulls the back to the basket post player they need. He will be a very good post player, but I don't expect him to be dominant with his back to the basket. He'll be better turning and facing the basket.

I'm willing to wait and see. He was good with his back to the basket in college but I thought he was more productive facing the basket. He has the ability to put the ball on the floor and knockdown the outside shot. That would create more of a mismatch than trying to post everyone up. I still think he would be an effective post player.

We dont need him though. We should draft Rose and then Gooden will become that 20-10 guy.

I agree that Paxson made a good deal in getting rid of Wallace. Some people close to the Bulls--like Bill Wennington--have indicated that they will now go ahead and trade Gooden to get a more established player, as Nas has said.

I know a lot of you guys don't like Hughes but I think Paxson made a hell of a deal when he got rid of Wallace. I really liked Gooden then and still like him now. He showed what he could do when he has a chance to be involved in the offense. A great PG or just better production from Hinrich should help him improve on those numbers.

I still feel the same way as I did the day after the trade. We got the best player in the deal back(Gooden), and got rid of a horrible contract but took back another horrible contract. Basically we traded Joe Smith for Gooden. Thats a good deal but not a great deal. We are still stuck with an untradeable contract for a selfish, bad player. Its just that he's a guard now.

Hughes? He's already broken down.
