It's still a grown man's league. This fits right into my Markkanen theory. Many people need some adversity to be self aware and get self discipline. Lauri's light bulb switched on mostly because the Bulls gave up on him. It's probable it doesn't if he stays.

He has game but to be great you have to be a little selfish sometimes. He passes up too many shots and isn't in attack mode all that often

The rebounding thing is what has always got me. He should be getting way more rebs a game. And yet he just doesn't. He goes through the motions

His rebounding for a Small Forward (which is his natural position) are about league average.

The biggest problem for me is that Donovan never puts him position to do anything.

Game after game Sky King proclaims that aren't going to run any plays for him. Question is why? Donovan allows journeymen like THT to come in and do whatever the hell he wants but not the team's lottery pick and so called "future"?.
It makes no sense. But even with that Williams still has to be a player at some point and go get it for himself.
And he rarely shows that he has that level of aggressiveness or "dog" in his game

Again, rebounding is something he can control. He has no interest in it. The thought never comes into his mind.

He has some games where he goes to the glass and some when he does not. And again as SFs goes his numbers are league average or slightly below that. Which is hardly as bad as it is portrayed.
For me you cannot continue to avg the same pedestrian 10 ppg that you have avg every season of your career and ever think of being that dude. There are some reasons for that aside from him, but he still should have upped his avg by now from that.

Exactly. It is an effort thing. A couple years ago on our girls basketball team we had a 6'1 post girl. She should have averaged 8 or more rebounds a game. But she didn't come close to that. She did not want the ball. She would stand and watch other girls go get it. Our team was led in rebounding by a 5'6 guard who wanted the ball. It is the same with PAW.

Never understood why the Bulls gave a 5 years, $90M deal to a bad player all based on the idea that he would suddenly blossom.

He stinks. He played well against Denver. Great. Is this likely to continue? No.

Another bad contract on the books for another 4.5 seasons.

He averages 26 minutes per game and has 20 triple singles this year in 37 games played.

He ain't Kawhi but he is better than he has shown. Billy Donovan is a terrible coach. Absolutely terrible. Started 4 guards last night and ONLY got back into the game and took the lead after he went Big with the Paw and Matas in the game as the 3 and 4. He sucks at developing young players. Claims he is going to "go young" yet plays his lottery pick about 10 minutes a night.

And I say this as someone that agrees with his decision to bench the Paw. You have to after how bad he has played this season. But Billy D has never used the kid correctly. He runs no plays for him (even as a building block player allegedly) and insists on playing him at the 4 even as it's clear that he is a,3.
If you're going to bench then start Matas, but because he is married to "small ball" he won't.
