Almost 30 games into the season, what is your opinion of the Bulls coach?

Good coach? Bad Coach? Too early to tell?

Thoughts :?: :!:

He won't succeed here, but if nothing else this job will help to season him down the line for possible success somewhere else.

He has inherited a team full of young veterans with a sense of entitlement...that's not a good scenario for a rookie coach. Thank God he has Rose, and thank God Rose actually has a good attitude and a good head for the game. Otherwise it would probably be a Tim Floyd or Bill Cartwright situation.

Are young veterans like ...military intelligence or JUMBOshrimp?

I know what you're getting at, but I didn't misspeak. I meant "young" as in age, but "veterans" as in time spent in the league.

Well I am probably in the minority around here, but in the games I have watched this year I have been impressed with Vinny. So far I am happy with him and how he is leading this team.

It seems to be like every new coach,he is going to tell the GM I can't win with theses guys! Like Skiles with Chandler and Curry, I know Vincent has a hardon for Deng and Thabo. I see 3 years at the most made 2 if Paxson doesn't make the playoffs!

I think Vinny Del Negro has done a good job as the Bulls' rookie head coach, but I'm sure he'll be the first to tell you that the defense needs a great deal of work. Even though this roster still appears uneven & lacks a more productive frontcourt & inside game, a lot of people didn't think this team would flirt, for lack of a better word, with the .500 mark. Vinny wishes that the Bulls could find a way to maintain momentum away from United Center, where they've started off very well, but can't seem to put teams they should be such as Charlotte & Memphis away. If they learned how to sustain it, I bet they'd actually be over the hump right now instead of a game or two under .500. I know he's more than happy with Derrick Rose so far this season as the #1 overall pick.

Translation:

It's not Vinny's fault that the Bulls don't play defense.

I think Vinny hasn't done anything as head coach, and he is pretty much only a figurehead with good hair. I think Del Harris and Bernie Bickerstaff have been running this team since day one.

Id also like to add that the rotations set by whoever is making them is very erratic. I know they are just shuffling shit around, but a guy will play big minutes one game and then get a DNP the next. That can't possibly be helping an already bad team.

Vinny = Jim Boylan

Vinny seems to be a smart coach. But he's got a mediocre selection of players to play on any given night. I don't care how good a driver you are, you're not beating my Mustang with your Camry.
This team appears to be a little more responsive to Vin than they were with Skiles.
That being said, some of these guys are just plain stupid.
I was talking with FF a couple days ago about Gordon. He said he can almost understand Gordons chucking because he's trying to get his stats up as it's clear he won't remain with the Bulls and is looking to have some offensive stats to sell. sounds good, but I don't care how good a scorer he is, when he's out there his +/- is awful. I don't think it's positive. Is there such a stat is basketball?
Anyhow, none of that is Vinny's fault.
So I think he's a smart, inexperienced coach that could be 500 with some better players. But he's not Coach K. He's not Phil.

Vinny has been fine. Given the roster (lack of big men), this team is about where they should be. They made good choices with their assistant coaches that have probably helped win a few games or we might have a Tim Floyd situation on our hands. I question some of the player usage - you sit Thabo for a week and suddenly he's productive? or Tyrus plays 30 minutes one night and 5 the next? He needs to come up with a rotation and stick to it.

He's an empty suit they don't have to pay much money to lose games before they make trades.

It will be obvious when the Bulls feel they actually can compete in the NBA for a championship because they will get rid of Del Negro and get an actual coach.

He had as much coaching experience as the Bulls technical support department had before this year.

We might as well just have made Larry Hughes the coach and saved even more money.
