If this report is true, then why doesn't Vinny just resign? Why put himself through this torture when your fate has already been determined?

Because he wouldn't be able to collect unemployment.

It's believed that Bulls' General Manager Gar Forman was supposed to talk to reporters concerning the future or lack thereof concerning Vinny Del Negro's status this afternoon. That has been cancelled, not only continuing to let VDN twist in the wind, but it's typical of the way the Bulls do business. It's not fair to Vinny, his players, those who cover the team, and of course, Bulls' fans. It's very unprofessional.

what a mess. now the entire basketball world knows vinnie has been fired but hey they cant make up their minds on a replacement so theyre gonna send him back out to coach his little heart out until they can find someone to take his place. good job bulls management

but vinney doesnt know hes a lame duck yet... all the questions the reporters ask him are nothing about whats actually true. he talks to his bosses everyday, and doesnt listen to anyone else, so is it really a lame duck coach or just an idiot?

As unprofessional and as awkward as things appear right now, I think the Bulls want to get the one who they feel players now & when the free agent class become available this summer WILL want to play for. That seems to be the holdup.

If they can't get Lawrence Frank, Byron Scott, Avery Johnson or Doug Collins, it's believed that former Bulls' player and current assistant Pete Myers, not Bernie Bickerstaff, may be the choice on an interim basis. They host the Pacers tomorrow night at the United Center and visit the Pistons in Auburn Hills, MI Thursday afternoon on New Year's Eve. I wish "GarPax" as the SCORE's Dan Bernstein calls Executive V.P. John "I Don't Want To Coach" Paxson & General Manager Gar "I Thought I Was The G.M." Forman, would make up their minds and say something! :x

Bring back Bill Carthright!! As an assistant at least,to work with the big men! I liked him,he was a good guy & certainly knows something about playing Center in the NBA.

This reminds me of my favorite Bill Cartwright moment ever. I was watching a game during his coaching reign and Eddy Curry did something really stupid (this narrows it down to almost every game) and Bill took the clipboard he had in his hand and broke it in half over his knee.
I don't think that guy had alot of fun coaching here, and I don't think he would ever take that job back.

you can say hes one of the top 2 or 3 on the team but best i dont know. deng has been a 20/10 machine and ever since whatever injury problem rose had has cleared up hes really put it into another gear. i do think that noah is the best defensive player on the team though

noah's been great this year, but now that he's healthy rose is their best player. Deng is probably their 2nd best

Noahs certainly been the most consistent and hard working player on the team. Sayin he's the best is a stretch but he's been very good. Alot better than most people expected

noah has the best attitude, that is no question. he tries harder then anyone- and thats saying that with hinrich on your team so its saying a LOT. alltogether though, rose is the best player. i dont know why dan doesnt see it, the guy is a star.

one new goal in life is to smoke weed with joakim noah. it would be amazing. the britney murphy 'night of fun' isnt going to happen unfortunately, so i have room for good times.

He couldn't have said any of this a week or two ago?

CHICAGO — Chicago Bulls general manager Gar Forman said Tuesday night he won't discuss reports that coach Vinny Del Negro's job is in jeopardy or go into detail about internal evaluations of staff, players or coaches.

Forman made his comments after a sports news station report late Sunday said the Bulls had decided to eventually fire Del Negro, who is in his second season.

"Vinny is our coach. Our goal is to get better each and every day," Forman said, adding that everyone, including fans, is disappointed by the 11-17 start that has included some embarrassing losses.

"We are as a management team exploring all options in order to get better," Forman said. "We expect our coaches to work each and every day to get this team better."

Asked if the Bulls had committed to allowing Del Negro to finish out the season, Forman said: "I feel that we shouldn't talk about evaluations with any personnel that we do internally. We are all being evaluated at all times. That goes from me to our management staff to our coaching staff to our players. And those are things we keep internally."

Forman said the team does not discuss "specific articles or rumours that may cross the Internet or the newspaper or TV."

"That's been a philosophy that's been in place for a while," he said. "We're not going to talk about trades. We're not going to talk about personnel. We're not going to talk about negotiations. And that's where we are at."

Asked if the organization was behind Del Negro, Forman responded by saying the organization was behind what it was trying to accomplish and optimistic of where it is headed.

"There is a lot of season left this year. OK?" Forman said, adding that the Bulls are still in the playoff picture.

"So with 50 some odd games left to play, we're still optimistic. We like our young core. We like our players."

Forman said the Bulls need to develop a sound defensive base and use an up tempo offence with last year's Rookie of the Year Derrick Rose pushing the ball and young players like Joakim Noah and Tyrus Thomas running the floor.

The Bulls had hoped to build on a promising finish last season, when they came on strong in the second half and lost to Boston in a dramatic seven-game series in the first round of the playoffs. Instead, after losing leading scorer Ben Gordon to the Detroit Pistons as a free agent and with Thomas and Kirk Hinrich battling injuries, they've been beaten badly several times.

In one eight-day stretch, they got danced on by LeBron James during a loss to Cleveland, lost by more than 30 to Toronto and Atlanta, got blown out by Boston and fell to the lowly New Jersey Nets.

The biggest indignity, however, came Dec. 21 when they led Sacramento by 35 in the second half, only to fall 102-98 at home.

That just increased the speculation that Del Negro was on shaky ground. And when Forman didn't come out Monday and give Del Negro a vote of confidence, it became an even bigger deal.

"People are more concerned about all that other stuff than I am. I'm just focused on tonight's game," Del Negro said Tuesday before Forman made his comments.

"You get to the point where it's ridiculous to keep talking about this stuff. It's a waste of time, really," he said, adding that he talks with Forman and executive vice-president of basketball operations John Paxson every day.

"When they want to come out with something, they will. If they don't, I'm just going to keep working and doing my job and helping this team get better. That's my approach."

Does Chicago have any decent GM that knows what he's doing? South side we have a guy who's getting guys that are about to collect pensions. North side....Bradley. No need to go any further. JA if given the first pick when Peyton came out would have traded the pick for a second rounder and high third.

And now Paxson Mr Wonder Boy. Hires a guy who never coached with no experience. Hey like Obama and look where we're with his great knowledge. Besides getting his own butt down there to take care of HIS MESS, he should find a coach that will attract a free agent in 2010. If the Bulls are really going to go after a big name star. Franks, Van Gundy. You really think James, Wade or Bosh would like to play for one of those guys? NOT
