Chicago Bulls fans are serious about bringing LeBron James to Chicago. Serious enough to put up a billboard in downtown Chicago advertising for LeBron to come to Chicago when NBA free agency starts on July 1st. There has been a lot of buzz about LeBron James leaving Cleveland and potentially landing in Chicago.

The buzz has been sharing headlines with the Chicago Blackhawks, who are two games away from winning the NHL Stanley Cup. The implications could be huge for Chicago should they land arguably the biggest free agent in the history of the NBA.
Not only would the team do tremendously better, but the economic status of the city of Chicago would rise too. Chicagobusiness ran an article that discussed the economic impact of this acquisition.

The LeBron effect could add up to as much as $2.7 billion if he plays here for six years, estimates University of Illinois at Chicago economist John Skorburg. The catch: He’d have to take the Bulls on deep, annual playoff runs, sprinkling in at least a few NBA championships along the way.

I'll boldly assume you are involved in this, so I have questions.

Do you think a billboard will have an effect on LBJ's decision? If so, how?

yes im one of the guys that were in charge of putting up the billboard.

i think it gives him and idea on how great of a chance he has of winning here in Chicago.

How does a billboard help him understand he can win here?

Assuming there are 2 equal teams, do you think LBJ would prefer the team with the better billboard?

CHICAGO - July 1, 2010 - In a shocking turn of events, the balance of power in NBA basketball may have shifted today. At the much-heralded press conference celebrating the signing of LeBron James to a Chicago Bulls contract, word was received at the last minute, just as James was about to put pen to paper, that Los Angeles in fact had 2 billboards demonstrating the Clippers' doubling the chances of winning a championship over that of Chicago.

James and his entourage quickly left the conference and the word is he will sign with the Clippers by this evening. No word yet on a developing billboard in Miami that may be in reference to Lebron James or possibly LemonTwist Soda. More billboard news as it develops....

CHICAGO - More news on the Lebron James front as his plane to Los Angeles is currently sitting on the runway awaiting clarification on news reports from New York regarding a plane that is currently flying over the city. Sources in New York are unable to determine the message at this time as to whether it says "Lebron your Championship is Here with Us" or "Lower your Debt - Consolidate it with Us". James is frantically trying to discover the message.

At least the billboard isn't in Arlington Heights.

Maybe the CSFMB can put up a billboard asking Erin Andrews to attend an outing.
