You guys have to realize something. Very few teams wanted Iverson. Plus very few teams had the money to make it happen. Philly had to take what they could.

It's more then what they get. You have to understand that by trading him they guarentee themselves to have the worst reccord. Witch means they have the best chance to get Oden. That's a hell of a start to begin rebuilding.

Yes, I suppose you can consider the tanking factor...but there's always the Celtics / Duncan factor, just becuase you're horrible doesn't guarantee you the 1st pick, just a better shot at it

I assume Smith's is the expiring contract then?

That trade is terribly one-sided. Too bad Denver isn't a good fit for Iverson. I don't think him and Melo will be able to gel...maybe I'm wrong.

Also, I think it's funny that the Bulls gave up JR Smith for a box of used jock straps, and the Nuggets wouldn't even include him in a deal for AI!

In my mind, the issue with Iverson is this: he's a great player, but in order to be great, he absolutely must be the man. He has to have the ball in his hands virtually all the time in order to be "the answer." That's fine if you have Iverson and a Pippen; but I'd be surprised if it works with Mellow.

Philly screwed themselves in all this. Once they sent AI home, teams could hold them over the barrel. Thinking about it like this, they probably got the best they could in a trade with Miller having a solid year and getting back two ones that could have potential. Sure they will be lower in the round but who knows what will pan out.
