I don't want to be overly optimistic about him, but Luol's having a pretty good preseason. Tonight he's got 22. He's making open shots, looks to be asserting himself more on defense, and he's not settling for jumpers when he sees a path to the basket. Should I expect this all year?

i miss the days when luol's set jumper reminded me of horace grant back in the day. he used to be money from 17, but if he put the ball on the floor he couldn't create his own shot for shit. now it seems to be kind of opposite, but he still can't dribble. or maybe he can.

either way this will be moot when he tweaks a hammy and misses 3 months and the team sends out mixed messages that they think he's OK.

edit: thank god that ben gordon didn't take the money alongside luol when it was offered, eh? we'd really be el fuckedo. we could not have carlos boozer right now... oh wait.

see i dont know about that. gordon played really good here. he was getting better every year... if he stayed and continued to play as he did (he was starting to love the big spotlight games too) i dont think we would be worse off. the fact that he went somewhere else and completely shit all over his own pants just proves all of his limitations were in his head. he definitely is not the type who can coach himself, and for whatever reason he bought into the coaching here in chicago. when he played the system that they wanted and did what he was told, he was really good.

he also thought he was an aspiring big time star, and if say, he took the money that he didnt think was quite enough, he could have easily done the same thing he did in detroit (eat his own vaginal cheese). so who knows, but my instinct lands on the former. it seems to me that whoever was close with gordon here on the coaching staff did what exactly what they needed to do to keep that guy motivated. and gordon isnt an idiot, i think he would have continued to listen despite the "shady" paychecks. (especially after last year when everyone saw drastic changes in contract sizes.)
