I'd say it was just a promo to whip up interest in a mediocre team.

Rose is like Bert Jones or Tony Conigliaro or Danzig. You can fantasize that he would have been an all-time great, but you'll never know.

I don't think Rose deserves his number retired on his merits, but Jerry can do what he wants. He got Harold Baines in the Hall of Fame and that's a lot worse.

Nah his MVP was legit. Best record in. The league with that roster? He earned it.

Was the bed on the floor when he was cutting down the nets after back-to-back championships?

Why do Jordan fans constantly have to denigrate LeBron? They worship Jordan like a God and they hate that once you leave Chicago most people consider LeBron the GOAT. And their silly ideas are supported by the old heads that played against Jordan and now comment and do color on games and will tell you that the game "evolved" until it reached a peak in their era and then it devolved back to where it is today. It's ridiculous.

Most young people who grew up playing NBA2K think Lebron is the GOAT and that is a small majority. Lots of fans from that generation think Kobe is the goat and lots of kids think it is Curry.

Everyone that watched Michael play knew he was the best in the world during his generation. No one questioned that it might be Magic or Drexler, Kemp, Barkley, Ewing, I.Thomas, Akeem, Shaq, Malone exc exc exc. It was Jordan PERIOD. He didn't go around trying to convince everyone he was the goat. He proved it on the court and gained their respect.

Hard to respect a player who does this and wants everyone to call him the goat.

I remember LeBron mocking Rose in the playoffs ("go talk to MVP"). I want my MVP to hit more than 44.5% of his shots. I agree he was a bigger, stronger Iverson...but I disliked Iverson for mostly the same reasons.

I actually believe that had he not got injured he definitely would have delivered a championship for the City. And I wasn't his biggest fan initially. Saw his first varsity game at Curie when he played for Simeon. Neutral site game can't remember the other team. Had never heard of him before the SunTimes did a story on him as the next phenom out of Chicago that morning I wanted to see what all of the fuss was about so I headed over to Curie to see him played. I left there believing that he was nowhere near as good as the hype. Boy was I wrong

Strong as hell. I understand how that isn't immediately apparent. No one is gifted as a finisher unless you're Shaq. You have to learn it.

He had NBA athleticism even as a High School sophomore. And his IQ as a player was much better than he ever got credit for. Won a State Championship without ever scoring a point in the Championship game. He knew everyone was keying on him and didn't try to force it just in order to "get his". Made every team that he'd ever played on much better from High School up through the NBA.

He got bashed for not openly recruiting other players to come and played with him while with the Bulls. Now it is something that he would be respected for with all of the shenanigans surrounding engineered rosters which currently occurs today.

Bit of revisionist history there on recruitment. LeBron showed up for the Bulls pitch and Rose didn't. "He can call me". As I've said before...immaturity.

I was at that game against Richwoods in Peoria. I'm pretty sure he scored a few points, but the whole team only had 31, I think. And that was with OT.

Anyway, it was the most amazing thing to see. Rose didn't do anything flashy and he certainly didn't fill up the box score, but he completely controlled the entire game. It was like the other nine guys on the floor were always exactly where he put them. Just an astounding display of basketball IQ.

My bad he scored 2 points that game. And he was better than Iverson. Iverson was a ball dominant, selfish, "me first" guy that other good/great players hated to play with.

It’s well known that the trio were at one point at least equally likely to go to Chicago as they were Miami. It didn’t happen, I don’t think Rose was the reason why.

No, I didn't. What the fuck are you reading?

And for the record, Rose had 9 points in that state championship game. Get your facts straight.

What's the point of referencing a recruiting meeting that you believe that Rose was supposed to attend involving Lebron then?

By the way. Wrong!
https://www.nba.com/bulls/news/sam-smit ... l-of-famer

Quote:
And as a senior in what I always saw as even a greater championship moment, Rose scored two points in the championship game. He manipulated the victory as point guard, but held down his scoring so teammates had better opportunities for scholarships. He’d long has his as the nation’s No. 1 prospect

If you believe they’re honest in their retelling of that offseason then sure, absolutely.

Bulls didn’t have space for 3 max deals, none of the players were tied to the Bulls and Chicago isn’t Miami. It was never going to happen.

Rose was 100% correct in not begging Bron to do something he was never going to do.

It’s well known that the trio were at one point at least equally likely to go to Chicago as they were Miami. It didn’t happen, I don’t think Rose was the reason why.

Agreed. There was no way in hell Lebron James would come here and I respected Derrick Rose for not being the test dummy who would try and get him to come here.

Rose never recruited Lebron.

No one said he had to.

Bernsie did and I believe so did Goff. And now Jorr

All he had to do was show up and shake a hand for chrissake. It's common sense, not recruiting. What he instead did was imply "fuck you" whether he meant to or not. It really is beside the point whether Lebron was serious.

I assume you have social skills?
