If they are smart they realize the chances of Lebron coming there are pretty slim, so if you can get Deng and have a lineup of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Deng, Blake Griffin, and Chris Kaman then you do it. If Griffin is able to stay healthy that lineup has the potential to be pretty strong. So I can see why the Clips would be interested in such a deal.

I agree with everything you said RFDC, except B.Griffin shattered his knee cap last summer. That's death to his game, which relied on maximum flexibility, and leaping ability from those knees. He was as close to a cant miss as you could find anywhere. Experts had him as the number one pick a month into the season 2 years ago. I know they still make millions, but I do feel bad for Griffin and Greg Oden. They were such legit prospects its hard to accept, as an NBA fan, that the league has def suffered due to their lack of development.

The whole Deng and #17 to the Clips for #8 sounds like a nice salary dump on the surface, but Ill be surprised to see it happen cus first of all GMs/owners hate when ESPN douchebags catch wind of a trade talk and blab about it to the whole world. Secondly, it just seems like too much salary to take on for an average player like Luol. Sterling is known as quite the cheap ass, and I think if he's gonna spend big dollars he's gonna go after a big time free agent.

Larry Bird's ultimate vision of an all-white NBA is nearly complete.

Isn't that trade impossible to make beacuse of the salary Indiana is getting back? I do know they are looking for a PG, but not sure if this deal could be pulled off.

Maybe we can take Danny Granger off his hands for Rob Kurz.

Kirk (9MM) + 17

for

TJ Ford (8.5MM) + 10 works, IF you thnk you can spin off Ford easier than Kirk

How many years does Ford have left?

TJ Ford expires after this year.

Kirk has two years left.

I don't know how I feel about that deal.

From the looks of it, it doesn't gain you any cap space for this summer, and I would rather have Kirk over T.J. Ford.

I thought there were rumors about Ford ending up in Charlotte back at the trade deadline. Is Felton a free agent? If so, that could make some sense, but if this were to happen without Ford being moved for cap space, it would be puzzling.

UPDATE No. 2 ESPN's Chad Ford casts more doubt that this is a likely scenario in his chat on Thursday: "Would be a good deal for both teams, but I'm told the Clippers aren't interested. If it was just Deng for a second rounder ... maybe."
---

UPDATE: Broussard added this late Wednesday night: "Since posting the Bulls/Clippers trade rumor, I've spoken with officials from both clubs. Some thought it made a lot of sense, but the one with the most juice said it's not going to happen. He said the Bulls have talked with several clubs, including the Clippers, but that in the end they will end up keeping their 17th pick. Posturing? We'll see."
---

The Clippers need a wing. They have money for a max free agent, and though LeBron James is unlikely to sign there, he can't quite be ruled out just yet.

Rudy Gay will also be an option for them in free agency. The Clippers could also use their No. 8 selection in Thursday night's draft. ESPN's Chad Ford has them selecting Al-Farouq Aminu there, who can play the 3 and the 4.

But they could also go the trade route, too.

According to ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard: "I've been told that the Los Angeles Clippers could trade their No. 8 pick to Chicago for Luol Deng and the Bulls' 17th pick. I haven't gotten confirmation on this from a team official, but this trade is feasible because I know the Clippers aren't enamored with any of the guys they can get with the eighth pick. Also, their biggest position of need is small forward. Adding Deng would give them a starting five of Baron Davis, Eric Gordon, Deng, Blake Griffin and Chris Kaman. That's pretty formidable. While this eats up most of the Clippers' cap space, they realize they weren't going to get one of the top-flight free agents anyway, certainly not if Donald Sterling refuses to sell the club."

This seems to be a mutually beneficial trade. The Clippers fill at need at the 3 -- though Deng is a bit pricey -- while the Bulls shed more cap space to potentially sign both James and Chris Bosh.

Nothing seems imminent here, but it could be a trade where neither team really has a reason to say no.

More from Broussard:

As fun as all of these rumors are, I'm going to be pretty surprised if the Bulls are able to move either Hinrich or Deng tonight.

Now CJ&H are reporting Kirk & the #17 pick are going to Washington (or if that falls through to Sacramento) which would put the Bulls approx. 30 million inder the cap. Of course none of them has a clue as to how the salary cap works. I thought Carmen was a supposed NBA expert. :?
