Greg Popovich should win his 3rd coach of the year this season, matching Pat Riley and Don Nelson's 3 each, and then he shouldn't be eligble anymore--like how guys would retire from the dunk contest.

Fricking genius Popovich secures the best regular season record and yet rests his guys for the playoffs more than any other contender. Not a single Spurs player averaged more than 29 minutes this season:

Carlisle surprisingly didn't over-use Dirk with that crap roster:

Lebron James has to be running out of gas, this will be how many straight years of deep playoff runs? Plus the Olympics? Lockout last season no doubt helped a bit:

This is the opposite of Popovich, not a single Thibs main rotation guy has fewer than 29 minutes a game:

Forgot about Doc Rivers. Kinda have to see what he/they do in the playoffs. What Doc's done to make Blake Griffin more than just a post player who dunks alone should get him in the COY conversation.

And what he's done with Jordan. Can't believe that DeAndre is on his way to justifying that contract they gave him.

New York beat the Celtics in the playoffs last year and then lost to the Pacers.

I might be wrong about this but I thought KG and Melo each only made it out of the Western conference 1st round 1 time, each losing to a Lakers team in the WCF that went on to win the title.

Wow, I'm a dumbass. I think you're right. No way to recover from writing things that apparently never happened regarding Minny and KG, so I'll just see myself out.

Gtfo of here with that. We're all wrong at different times here. You better not stop frequenting NBA threads.

Grizzlies, Warriors and Thunder all need to dump their coaches. Problem is, who do they get to replace them. Maybe the success of Hornacek and to a lesser extent Jason Kidd will encourage teams to look outside the usual suspects for their next head coach.

Kidd's working with a lot better roster than Hornacek, in terms of the importance of the head coach. Not sure how much Paul Pierce or KG listen to anything Kidd has to say. Kinda how the Pistons post Larry Brown paid more attention to what Chauncey Billups said than Flip Saunders' in-game coaching.

Some talk of Tom Izzo going to the T-Wolves. I guess he and Flip Saunders are friends (maybe from Saunders time as Piston head coach?) and Saunders runs the T-Wolves.
