I think it will be the same roster, minus Brooks and Nazr.

Nazr is the mascot and he already started working Thibs replacement.

I think a healthy Rose and Noah could make a difference.

That and...
substantial improvement/consistency from Nico.
bench scoring from McDermott
Healthy Gibson
minor improvement from Snell & Butler.
Less minutes on Pau & Noah
Less Hinrich.

Not all will happen of course but none of those is a stretch either.

Concern still surrounds back-up PG (ie more Hinrich) and the possibility that the health noted above continues to be an issue.

Yeah Mirotic will definitely be better. I expect to see more consistency and less fouling from Dirk Jr.

I would like to be pleasantly surprised that D. Rose somehow becomes a consistent 20ppg 10apg player.

He will never average 10 assists. This will be the first summer in 5 years that he's able to work on his game.

My thinking is he will have a lot of shooters open in Hoiberg's offense. As I said I'd be surprised.

They didn't want him to go to Cleveland. This was a dumb signing. Apparently Thibs wasn't the only one who doesn't think McBuckets id ready.

I doubt if Dunleavy starts next yr. I'm sure he won't be the starter by the end of the season. Dunleavy was exposed defensively in the Cleveland series. Can't be the starter going forward.

They can't make any significant free agent signings. Strapped financially. Trading Taj. Once he proves he is healthy is the way to go. Book it.

Excellent offseason for GarPax so far. Who needs to make roster moves when you can just overpay your same players and pretend you've had championship talent all along?

There was no reason to resign him. See if Snell or McBuckets can start. Giving him $15 million (even with the cap exploding) is basketball dumb.

They've put themselves in a position to be major players next offseason. Exploding cap and a shit load of money coming off the books.

He is a solid backup. little less than 5 million a year is not a lot for a backup. If he is the starter then you're in trouble. The move to play McDermott and Snell should have been last yr. They will play this yr. and one of the two will start. I'm certain of that.

Rumors from Mike Adamle of all people. And that's not a shot at Adamle. He's just not the first name that comes to mind when thinking of someone who's plugged into what the Bull are doing or considering doing.

Latest scoop is Nick Young and Hill to CHI. Few names on the Bulls roster being thrown around. Talk seems possible.

I have a mini-update. If Bulls cannot get Lin, they're willing to keep the talk going if Clarkson is an option. Not sure if LA would agree.

Here's the scoop:

All I know is that the Bulls would obtain Lin and Hill. No word on who the Lakers are getting quite yet.

Just received word that the Bulls may be sending one of our players to LA within the next week or two.

Might not be a bad move for the Bulls. I would rather have Hill and either Young or Clarkson as opposed to Lin. A backup Lin might be acceptable though.

I've got no problem with this.

The Bulls will re-sign Aaron Brooks for one year at the minimum salary, reports Marc Stein of ESPN.com (Twitter link). Brooks could have signed for 20% more than the minimum via Non-Bird rights, but Chicago gets a break as its poised to pay the tax thanks in large measure to its deals with Jimmy Butler and Mike Dunleavy.

ESPN sources say Aaron Brooks has struck a one-year deal to return to the Chicago Bulls

Portis was damn good yesterday, some teams are going to regret letting him fall to the Bulls.

McDermott looked like Larry Bird in the Summer League last year.

He may have played like him in the regular season too, but the coach wouldn't play him.

The coach played him a lot earlier in the season (before his knee injury) and he clearly wasn't ready yet. Couldn't even hit his jump shot. He was all Summer League 1st Team this year too. Sounds like he isn't just relying on his jumper but he still can't guard a chair.

Sounds like he should play in the next board basketball event.

One thing is for certain. When it comes to basketball he's no Tyrus Thomas 2.0.

I wasn't a fan of the McDermott pick but I don't think he should have languished on the bench either. There is no reason he could not have found 15-20 min. a game. According to conventional board wisdom the Bulls really were not contenders anyway. Might as well see what you have in McDermott.
