Post subject: | Will Perdue: Thomas 2nd Coming of Chandler |
Earlier today on the Mully-Hanley show Will Perdue said he didn't quite understand the Thomas pick because he and Tyson Chandler are basically the same guy. What is this guy watching? Thomas is so much more athletic and coordinated than Chandler that it's almost as though the two aren't even part of the same species, let alone being the same player. Will Perdue is cracked in the head. |

TM, you might want to give that one a little edit, but I think I get the point. Tyrus is definitely more athletic than Tyson, and my two year old nephew is more coordinated that Tyson, so that's not saying much. I think the comparison is that they are good weak side shot blockers with little offensive game other than alley-oops and put backs. |

I think Tyrus at least shows the potential to make some shots; he had a turnaround jumper in the paint yesterday. That gives me hope at least. |

The difference is that Tyson will never become an offensive player. It's reasonable to reserve judgment on Thomas because he's improving as a scorer every time he plays. Thomas needs more minutes. |

Agreed. Tyson strikes me as a guy who's in the NBA exclusively because of his height; if he has any other skills, I'm unaware of them. |

...And at least Thomas can catch the ball. He can't dribble or shoot yet, but there's so much more potential there than with Chandler. |

That's a dumb comparison. I said when the bulls drafted Will Purdue in 1988 that he was the 2nd coming of "no talent big white guy". Nobody listened to me back then. |

Not much has changed since then: No one listens to you now, either. |

Did any one else think that Tyrus would have matched up better against Darko than PJ? Why did he sit the entire first half when it was clear that PJ wasn't quick enough coming off a back to back. Also can some one teach Ben Gordon to dribble without slipping, he looks like a fool every time he tries to go to the hole in which he ends up begging for a call. What a horrible pair of losses they have completely negated that 3-0 start. |

Darko was having a very good game, and what's the problem with giving Thomas 3 or 4 minutes to see if a different look (as in an athletic freak vs. an crippled/'smart' player) would have mattered ? |

Tyson can go back to eating rim in Toronto, or anywhere else, for all I care. |
