Thoughts? Says here he’s signing with the Bull for 2 years 40 million.. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.nba.com/amp/league/article/2018/07/14/chicago-bulls-agree-two-year-deal-jabari-parker It’s interesting I guess if he can stay healthy. With this move -if it works- wonder if they can swing the Anthony Davis idea mentioned in an earlier thread? So, what say you buds.. is this a swing and a miss desperation move or are Gar and Pax on to something here? |

Signing Parker and Levine to those nutty contracts was asinine. Typical half measures with no future in sight. Even in the east, they are not a play-off team. |

“Well, I don’t know I just stick to my strengths,” Parker said. “Look at everybody in the league. They don’t pay players to play defense. There’s only two players, historically, who play defense. I’m not gonna say that I won’t, but to say that’s a weakness is like saying that’s everybody’s weakness. I’ve scored 30s and 20s off of guys who say they try to play defense.” well that's just fucking dandy....a ltg guy it figures |

The top 5 teams in the NBA standings this year all were in the top 10 of team defense. Every team in the top 10 defensive efficiency rankings made the playoffs. Out of the bottom 10 teams in defensive efficiency, 8 of them missed the playoffs. The best two teams in the league by a wide margin were Houston and GS, both top 10. Houston was top 5. GS also purposefully decided to take it easy during the regular season this year and even said as much publicly, explaining their 9 ranking. Golden State was 1st overall in defense last year, 8th the year before that, and 1st the year before that. They are a great defensive team. Might wanna sit this one out Bob. |

The top 3 teams record wise were also the 3 top teams in terms of offensive efficiency. It is more important to be good offensively than it is to be good defensively in today's NBA. Utah was No.1 defensively and no one thought of them as being anywhere close to a contending team. If you have a couple of plus defenders as Carter and Dunn may prove to be then you will be fine. The Bulls now have offensive weapons and the type of players that Hoiberg wants to coach. If he doesn't get it done this year he should get launched. By get it done i'm talking 6th 7th seed. Something which demonstrates growth. They have scoring options now. |

That's cool but none of it rebutted the facts I posted that prove that defense still matters. |

FavreFan wrote: That's cool but none of it rebutted the facts I posted that prove that defense still matters. Cleveland being 29th in efficiency rebuts everything you stated. You can't say defense matters if the 2nd worse defense in the league is able to make the finals without playing defense. Defense matters but it isn't as important as being good offensively. There are no great defensive teams in the NBA today. That includes G.S. |
