meh) -- LaVine seems to be the kind of player who can have a long/ish solid/ish NBA career putting up solid/ish #s on bad teams, and if Kris Dunn is one of your "big 3" then odds are you'll end up celebrating an 8 seed like the Timberbulls did last year. Ergo, the bulls need to acquire some kind of blue chip asset/s to hopefully become a top-10/ish #1/2 player on a championship contender. How are they gonna do that?
I'm pretty darn confident in believing that the bulls will be unable to lure a Kevin Durant type/caliber player via free agency, nor do I think they'll suddenly be able to come up with a way to trade for one short of "earning" a #1/2 pick and flipping it for a relative-scrap-heap super/star, so that essentially means your only way of attaining the type of super/star player/s you need is drafting one. Obviously, the best way to be able to do that is to lose as many games as possible
and hope that the NBA once again decides to "reward" the bulls for bringing in quality #s/$$$ during the "lean years" whilst realizing that the NBA is at its best when the bulls, lakers, and knicks are relevantI understand the core tenets of your stance; even if you have the best player in the world you're not going to win a championship with a total clown car around him... But poo-pooing the idea of bulking up on Jordans in favor of acquiring pippens and grants = essentially what the bulls have done for the last 15-20yrs. the most notable cases of this were getting boozer during the summer of "the decision" and eventually getting pau gasol instead of [whoever was the grand salami that offseason] -- nice solid ideas, especially on-paper/in-theory, but at the end of the day while constructing a 2004 pistons team feels all nice and proper you're gonna end up like the old Wendy's bag saying "where's the beef?" in a league that's always been about getting wangwhipped by BIG. BLACK. STUDS.
Can you honestly say that winning an additional 10-15 games and dropping from a top-3 pick to a ~#7-11 pick is going to be offset by, say, Zach LaVine getting a taste of winning and taking a few.more steps to becoming something more than, say, a lower-rent monta ellis? Or that Wendell is going to be on a.first name basis with America (the country) if he manages to rise up and do.his part to get these 18-19 bulls to 30something wins as opposed to, hopefully, ~20 or less?
You gotta break a few eggs to make an omelette, and seeing as I have no.hope.for this current bulls core to be any more than an 8th seed trophy type team, yeah, I'm rooting for them to get the shit kicked out of them in every game.from now until they get a bonafide thoroughbred blue chip "HOLY SHIT!" talent out there who could be the best player on a legit contender and THEN I'll look for in-season growth and results.
