I'm glad the Celtics got screwed. For a team that hasn't been good in 15 years, I still want them not to be good. Boston sucks.

I know. I love it. The Celtics were tanking games late too. In 1997 they had the 1st or 2nd best shot to get Tim Duncan and got the 5 pick. Same as this year.

Well, that proves its not fixed. Small market San Antonio got Duncan a decade ago. This year small market Portland gets Oden. Seattle gets the 2nd pick and Duran. The historic Celtics get screwed twice.

If it was fixed the NBA would have wanted Boston to get Duncan and Oden.

I'm sorry, I don't want the Bulls to go anywhere near Zach Randolph. One early Saturday morning I had the misfortune to wake up with MTV's Cribs on and that clown was on with Gangster Disciples stuff everywhere. A "Free Larry Hoover" ("King Hoover- Blackstone Remover")poster, and the stylized "six point" (GD symbol) dead center of his pool table.

And this was while he was in Portland??? But raised in Flint, or somewhere else in Michigan??? What in the hell would that clown do here???

In a sense the Bulls and the East won in this draft. Except the teams in the East that had a shot at the top two picks of course.

These two studs are going to the West (Portland and Seattle) and staying out of our Conference. Man, the West just gets stronger.

I want Randolph

All this cancer stuff was heard with Rasheed as well, screw all these nice guys when opponents throw your face into the ground. Plus I remember reading that Randolph/Skiles are in touch from college connections.

I wouldn't give up Hinrich, but I don't think we'd have to. If we don't have to give up the 'core', maybe Noc and fillers (Duhon, some guys who never play, maybe they want Krypha back? We can dream right?), I would do it in a second

That could be too obvious too. Plus I don't think Stern likes the tanking

I can't wait to read Bill Simmons the sports guy whining and complaining about this. His stuff is funny but his love of anything Boston makes me throw up in my mouth sometimes.

Oh yeah, Celtic Pride and Fever pitch both sucked you Boston wankers.

Of course Stern doesn't like tanking. But I think Seattle was too and they get the 2nd pick. This lottory is legit guys. I know everybody likes to think this is the movies. But Stern would got to jail if that was discovered. He's making 10 million per year. Why would he risk that? For what?

Plus the smallest market got David Robinson in 87 as well. So San Antonio got Duncan and Robinson with small odds. I think Rockford is a bigger market then San Antonio. See what I mean. That shows its been legit. LOL.

I honestly don't get it. Why do I hate the Celtics? I like Paul Pierce. Have I become an anti-Bostite? Have hearing about the Red Sox and Yankees put so much negative feelings towards me that it carries over to other sports?

I honestly think ESPN is to blame.

Portland will be motivated to get rid of Zach Randolph, though I don't know if the Bulls have the salaries to make it work.

They don't. The Bulls had opportunities to make big trades in either '05 (Tim Thomas contract) or '06 (PJ Brown contract), but heading into this offseason they have no contracts that are both sizeable & moveable.

Wallace isn't going anywhere. Hinrich & Nocioni will both have BYC deals. Deng & Gordon will both have PPP contracts. Their largest expiring contract is Chris Duhon, for just under $3.25 mil.

Without touching core players, the most you could deal for would be about $11 mil. That would include a sign & trade w/ Nocioni in mid July, with Chris Duhon & Viktor Khryapa tagging along.

FYI, 2007-08 salaries listed below:

$22 mil - Kevin Garnett
$14 mil - Pau Gasol
$13 mil - Zach Randolph
$20 mil - Jermaine O'Neal

Here's what the NBA should do. The 14 teams that miss the playoffs have a loser playoff. Winner get the 1st pick. Seed them. Runner up gets the 2nd and so on. The teams that get eliminated in the same round flip a coin. There you go. Solved. That way they still play hard at the end to get a good seed for the loser playoff.

Don't I have great ideas? LOL.

I think this is actually a tough situation for Seattle and Atlanta. I think Durant has the skills to contribute right away, but I think physically he's still a few years away, he needs to bulk up a little bit. While he's developing the window will be closing on Ray Allen, and really isn't Durant's game pretty similar to Rashard Lewis? I'm not saying don't take Durant, but it will be interesting how they build around him, it seems like they'll have an odd mix of players.

Obviously Atlanta's biggest need is at PG. I like Conley a lot but that's a pretty big reach at #3. I don't think there are a whole lot of options for them to trade it- they don't need a veteran PG like Bibby or Kidd who only has a few years left, and no way are they going to get a young stud like Chris Paul. The last thing they need is another tweener.

So how do the Bulls add either interior scoring or a slashing wing man ?
What's your off-season thoughts ?

9th pick

or

MLE

or

draft a F @ 9 to replace Nocioni, and S&T him w/ Duhon mid July (Seattle and Chris Wilcox looked like a good partner here, until they landed Kevin Durant anyway)

will start an offseason thread shortly, probably by end of day...

Yes, there is. But don't expect to be blown away, Hawkeye. You can definitely make a smart signing with the MLE. What you typically cannot do, however, is make a big signing.

I think Hibbert could come in tomorrow and exceed his production. Do not consider this an endorsement of Hibbert.

Do you feel the Bulls are in need of a big signing? I think that if they play their cards right over the next month, they can make the necessary moves to give this team a great chance at a Championship. Personally, I feel the team is young enough that you can factor in some improvement simply due to having more experience; if they can get someone with any kind of inside scoring threat, I like their chances as much as anyone.

Matt, I expect them to look for their big man at #9. That’s likely plan A. Whether one that they like will fall to them is another story. Trading up is an option, though all 5 teams ahead of them (MEM, BOS, MIL, MIN, CHA) are legitimate candidates to draft bigs as well, so it may not exactly be a buyer’s market.

There’s not going to be a big signing. They don’t have the resources to make it happen. What I meant in the previous post was that there are plenty of good rotation players in this league that have been had at the MLE. A big signing for that price (circa $5-$6 mil/year) is rare, and I’m referring to a big name talent accepting less in order to join a contender. IE: if Vince Carter decides he’s made plenty of money off Nike, and decides he’ll take a pay cut to join Dallas in pursuit of a ring.

With the 9th pick in the 2007 NBA Draft, the Chicago Bulls select:
Roy Hibbert, center, Georgetown.

Not for PF's
You got Magloire, Joe Smith, McDyess.
It's slim pickings on the unrestricted side.

What is Primoz Brezek opts out of Charlotte? He's probably about the MLE.

Hell, get me a Mikki Moore or Kurt Thomas.

Just so they don't go after a Vitaly Potapenko or the Kandi man

Brezec should be available. He’s towards the front end of my list, if the Bulls can’t land a big in the draft.

Mikki Moore had a career year this season and is likely to sign a bad contract (good for him, bad for the team that gives it to him).

Kurt Thomas has an option with Phoenix, which he is 99.9% likely to exercise. Nobody is going to give him $8 mil on the open market.

Olowokandi is not coming to Chicago. You can exhale now...

Bill Simmons column was glorious. What a whiny pathetic baby. So the Celtics didn't luck into one of the top picks after tanking for the second half of the season and your terrible management makes dumb decision after dumb decision. I'm sorry that the incompetent Celtics weren't bailed out on pure luck. Looks like you'll have to find some players who aren't can't miss to bring back the great celtics.
