The big rumor I have heard with Amare is some form of deal for KG. Imagine KG with Nash. Wow. The Suns want a more physical 4 than Amare to go with Duncan - KG would fit the bill and work in a running style.

As for Marion, he's a tweener - exactly what this team doesn't need another one of. You already got Noce, Deng that can play 3/4 - why add another?

Spinnin - Obviously, the salaries wouldn't work for a Gordon/Marion trade. Could the Bulls give him an extension and then trade him ? I know there's a rule about signing a free agent and then trading him (I think it's a 60 day rule or something like that), but if Gordon is just getting an extension, could he be traded right away ?

The salaries don’t match up, regardless of whether or not Gordon is extended this summer. The only way for it to work financially would be for Nocioni (BYC) to get a massive extension, in the neighborhood of $10 mil/year, which isn’t going to happen.

Moreover, I see no reason for Phoenix to accept this package, even if it were possible. The Suns are trying to clear up their books. New contracts for Noce & Gordon would not decrease their payroll. Also, the Suns’ backcourt is already undersized. Bringing in Gordon isn’t going to help in that department, plus it would likely force them to move either Bell or Barbosa, because their rotation would be guard heavy and extremely thin in the front court. Lastly, the only reason they’d be interested in Chris Duhon is if we took back Marcus Banks, which we wouldn’t be doing under this scenario.

If we do business with Phoenix at all, it’s likely going to be an attempt to acquire an additional first round selection. The Suns hold 2 late picks, the 24 & the 29. Trading Duhon’s expiring contract for Marcus Banks and one of their picks is a possibility, but big money guys like Marion & Amare are probably not in the cards for us.
