I know this is going to sound like I'm harping on Beardown, but it's really a generalization...which is worse.
But really, fans...come on. What is the point of taking the position of saying "Hey, our team may be bad, but there are a lot of bad teams in our division/conference so we may be the best of the bad?"
Doesn't that propogate the idea that you're content with how bad your team is? I mean, to me it sends a message to the organization to continue to be lazy and put out crap because...hey, we're the best bad there is!
I hate the fact that my Sixers are terrible. If they were 7-13 and leading the division, I'd be pissed that they're not a better team. Because when they play an actual GOOD team, they'll be KILLED. I'd really rather save the embarrassment.
Same goes with the Cubs and Saints...I want to see a better team compete, not a bad one get lucky. Everything is so dilluted in professional sports these days...we should demand better. Because we're paying more for less...
We come from Chicago, Dubya. We're Cubs fans, half of us. Being the tallest midget is still the tallest man in the room. Small consolation, but consolation nevertheless. I am always happy with the home version of the game.

Many that is true, but an incomplete statement.
