While I don't think it is a shocking surprise to anyone that Wallace is on the trade block.

The problem is so are Zach Randolph and Eddie Curry. So if you want a big man, they are out there.

I could see Boston wanting Wallace as he doesn;t want the ball, but they have nothing left to give this year.

MAybe to Denver for a pick and a young guard that can score like JR smith! Oh wait, we gave him away.

Where are you hearing this at ?

Let's not forget that we need to take back a big salary for a Ben Wallace trade to happen. So, we may be able to find somebody who thinks Wallace can help, but we'd be taking back their problems.

What about the lakers should Bynum's injury last longer?

Not really. The Bulls only have to take back salaries equal to about $12M. The problem is Boston is the only team where it appears Wallace may be an asset. Looking at the salaries of the Celtic players there is no way the Bulls would be able to work out a deal with Boston (Celtics won't trade a member of the "Big 3"). http://www.hoopshype.com/salaries/boston.htm

$12 million in salaries is a lot to take back, and we're not going to get back any fix to our team, just another team's problem.

Sam Smith said this:

You take Kwame Brown's expiring contact of $9 million and add Vladimir Radmanovic at $5.6 million and it's a deal. The Bulls wouldn't want to take on Radmanovic's deal, which goes through 2010-11, but it's much cheaper than Wallace and may be the best way to get out from under his deal.

Radmanovic is an ok player. That number is high for him but he could be a servcieable big man off the bench to bring a center out to the top of the key. As for Kwame, talk about a bust.

I would do that trade in a heartbeat

trying to figure out why the celtics would be interested in wallace. they havent been getting hurt inside. kendrick perkins isnt exactly a protoype down low, but he fits in, does his job, and scores some points without much fanfare, and hes a heck of a lot cheaper than ben wallace.

The Celtics are in a win now mode. They realize they have to win a championship in the next couple of years to justify the outrageous contracts given to older players. Wallace has the experience and may have the motivation to be a key member of a championship team. With the Celtics he would only have to defend and rebound. Having KG (just like having Rasheed) will make that easier to do.
he would fill that role i suppose if they already had him, i just dont see that as an area they would actively be looking to fill. that team is stacked with leaders, and cant see pierce, allen and KG wanting an overpayed 1-dimensional player who doesnt even want to be a leader for the bulls, come in during a magical season where they are playing so well.

It's all Jordan's fault.

Those guys want who can help them win a championship immediately. Most would argue Wallace is more qualified to do that. It really doesn't matter anyway because they would have to trade every player other than the Big 3 to get him.
thats true. dont forget, they have that spectacular championship leader james posey! that dude can shoot.

It wouldn't make sense long term for them. They could trade Kwame and Radmanovic to get the deal done though.

I think the trade would make sense for the Lakers if they thought that Wallace's issues were more being on the Bulls than being washed up.

BD I think you are missing the point. Unloading Wallace cancerous attitude and his outrageous contract is a good thing. Taking back $12M in salary really isn't a bad thing if it is done right. If the Bulls got back an expiring contract of around $8M and only had to deal with a long term contract of $4M I would say that is a great trade. Noah can fill the same role Wallace was supposed to fill.

I'd be ok with any trade that involves us getting back an expiring contract. My point has been that if we trade Wallace for another bad contract/player, our team still stinks. The Lakers angle that Sam Smith brings up does help us. Sure, we'd be stuck with Radmanovic for a few seasons, but we can get out of Wallace's deal. That's a good move.

Ben Wallace would be a great fit on Boston. I don't know that a 2 team deal could be worked out though as Boston certainly isn't moving any of their big 3.

Here's what M.Stein from ESPN says:

This kind of deal might barely cause a ripple after the blockbusters we've seen lately -- and two sources close to the situation insist that it probably won't happen -- but New York and Chicago have apparently discussed a trade that would send Ben Wallace to the Knicks for Quentin Richardson, Malik Rose and Fred Jones.

Pardon our yawns, but it's difficult to imagine much of an impact on either team even if it does go through.

For the Bulls? I keep hearing that Wallace does expect to be relocated before the Feb. 21 deadline, which Chicago would undoubtedly regard as a form of addition by subtraction that creates more of an opportunity for rookie Joakim Noah. But that's about all it would be if these are the trade terms.

For the Knicks? Now that a seven-game losing streak has erased any of their playoff delusions, even in the East, Wallace sounds like little more than another past-his-best name for Isiah Thomas' collection.

The Bulls have fielded much more steady trade interest in another Thomas -- Tyrus Thomas -- but word is Chicago won't consider moving him now. Which makes some sense, since it'd be tough to get any kind of value for Thomas (as with most Bulls) because this season has been such a nightmare.
