Bulls fans, I keep saying forget about Avery Johnson. The former Dallas Mavericks' head coach was a guest on the "NEW Dan Patrick Show" earlier today. He sounded like a guy more than prepared to do TV work next season instead of coaching the Bulls or any other NBA team. If that's not enough, you can also forget about Michael Curry interviewing for the Bulls' job. ChicagoSports.com reports that the Tim Allen-looking Flip Saunders and the Detroit Pistons aren't about to give GM John Paxson and their division rivals permission to talk with Curry about the vacancy. The Web site adds that the Utah Jazz have given assistant Tyrone Corbin permission to talk to the Bulls. Still, as much as I think Jerry Reinsdorf should simply name Paxson in the dual role of Head Coach/General Manager, my instincts are starting to point East for the eventual choice. I think the guy Jerry & John REALLY WANT is Tom Thibideau, Glenn "Doc" Rivers' right hand assistant with the Boston Celtics. Can the Bulls wait to get him? That's the ($2 million) question... |

Either he's waiting to see if a team that is close to contending gets a spot open, or he just wants time off from coaching, or he'll use "I'll go to TV if I don't get what I want" just to leverage himself a bigger deal. |

I hope the Bulls stay far away from Avery Johnson. There was talent on Dallas and he couldn't use it. What will he do on a team with less talent? Avery Johnson is not a good coach. End of story. |
